A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 293

"Good morning, Quinn! How are you feeling?" Celeste’s face looked a little plumper. Lately, Fletcher had been trying so hard to impress Leland that he was cooking massive, six-course meals every day. Since the kids barely ate anything, Celeste and Fletcher ended up stuffing themselves until they could barely walk.

"I'm feeling much better. Thank you so much for taking care of me," Quinn smiled. "What are the masks for?"

Celeste scooped up the little duck. "Just checking if they need a diaper change."

The duck and goose were both wearing customized diapers made out of surgical masks.

"Here, let me wipe their feathers!" Annelise offered a jasmine-scented wet wipe.

Fletcher had specifically bought them from the store so the kids could play with the birds indoors without them smelling.

The little mutt was also let out to roam and play. The duck chased the puppy's tail while the goose strutted around the room like royalty. Star stood on his hind legs, resting his paws against the bed to get a closer look at Quinn.

Quinn reached out a hand. "Hey there, Star. Want to say hi?"

"He knows how to shake!" Annelise instructed.

Right on cue, the puppy offered his paw. Quinn shook it, and they both gave a little nod of greeting. Quinn’s face lit up with genuine joy; her spirit was finally healing.

Winifred gently tucked a loose strand of hair behind Quinn's ear. "Why don't you call Declan and invite him over for lunch? After we eat, you two can rest for a bit before heading over to Huxley's to pack your things."

Quinn's smile faltered slightly. "Winifred... won't that be too much trouble for you?"

"Not at all. Fletcher is an amazing cook. We’d love to have him."

Since she had already decided to support Quinn and Declan's relationship, Winifred wanted to do whatever she could to help.

He unpacked the contents like a magician pulling rabbits from a hat. He brought out two premium educational tablets—one pink, one blue—for the twins. Then came two sets of designer ceramic dinnerware, a complete collection of crystal wine glasses, and, most impressively, two enormous crates of imported vintage wine with foreign labels that screamed exclusivity. It was the kind of luxury money usually couldn’t buy.

Fletcher meticulously arranged the bottles in the empty wine cabinet until it was fully stocked.

"You really spent too much," Winifred insisted. She had been so busy since moving in that she hadn't even hosted a housewarming party. For Declan—a man she barely knew—to show up with tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of gifts felt incredibly daunting. Having experienced so little kindness in her life, she was always a bit terrified when someone treated her this well.

Quinn took the elevator down just as Declan finished setting up Annelise's tablet. He quickly handed it to the little girl and practically sprinted over to Quinn.

"Baby, does your stomach still hurt?"

Quinn looked at Winifred's makeshift family, her eyes brimming with tears. "They've taken such good care of me. I feel like a completely new person. Nothing hurts at all."

"Oh... don't cry," Declan murmured, pulling her into a fierce, protective embrace.
