A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 310

Winifred stepped back, giving them space to have their romantic reunion. She tucked herself into the small alcove between two large stone planters, trying to blend in with the shrubbery.

Leland lived in an independent wing of the estate, the front doors opening directly into the garden by the outdoor pool. He had clearly just rolled out of bed and come straight downstairs.

"What is all the screaming about?" he asked, his voice rough.

He was wearing thin, gray loungewear that clung to him like thermal underwear. The fabric was tight against his thighs and hips, making him look strangely sensual despite his obvious fever.

He had rushed down in such a hurry!

Yvette lifted her chin, brimming with triumph. See? His family said he liked someone, but the moment he heard her voice, he sprinted out of bed despite being deathly ill. He obviously liked her! The Lockwood matriarchs and their exhausting mind games were so annoying.

Yvette pointed dramatically at Winifred, who was currently trying to camouflage herself behind a bush. "Why is she in your house?"

Leland didn't even glance at Yvette. "Did she bother you?"

Wow, Winifred thought. How lowly am I? The great Mr. Lockwood won't even give me a second glance.

Yvette's anger instantly deflated, replaced by smug satisfaction. "She's a manipulative, toxic woman who hurts everyone around her. Just looking at her ruins my mood."

"So, what do you want me to do?" Leland asked blankly.

"Kick her out!" Yvette demanded. She had sworn she wouldn't let Winifred beg for a job here, and she meant it. She stood proudly by the edge of the pool, expecting him to follow her orders.

Leland’s expression turned to ice. "What happens in my house is none of your business, outsider."

"Excuse me?" Yvette froze, her arrogant smile shattering.
