The words hit Winifred so hard her head spun. She glared at Iris. "Do you even hear the words coming out of your mouth?"

Iris was hyperventilating with rage, spitting out whatever came to mind.

"I warned you! I told you if you didn't listen to me, I would expose you!"

"You have entirely lost your mind," Winifred shot back. "If I was married to Holden, had his kids, and then divorced him—and you openly paraded your relationship with him during that time—what exactly does that make you? The other woman who wrecked my marriage? Did you seduce him while he was married, just like your friend Yvonne destroyed someone else's family?"

"You... I..." Iris sputtered, stomping her foot in frustration. "I'm telling the truth!"

Leland gently pushed past his mother and Sylvia, stepping directly in front of Winifred, entirely shielding her from Iris.

"You toxic witch," he sneered.

"How dare you speak to me like that, Leland?"

"Everyone in our circle knows Yvette has been around the block," Leland said coldly. "My rejection of her has absolutely nothing to do with Winifred. But instead of being embarrassed by your friend's mess, you come here and take it out on my partner. Holden really scraped the bottom of the barrel finding someone as utterly stupid and vicious as you."

Insulted to the core, tears welled in Iris's eyes.

She looked around the room frantically. Holden wasn't here. She had no one to back her up.

Taking a deep breath, her face flushed red as she screamed back, "Ha! You're raising Holden's kids and sleeping with his leftover wife! You really love wearing another man's hand-me-downs, don't you?"

"You deranged lunatic!" Leland's voice boomed. "Winifred and I have been together for years! She is mine, and I am hers!"

"Oh, really? Then where did the two kids come from?"

"They are mine!"

The shout rattled the windows.

Iris stared at him, completely paralyzed.

Leland stared her down, his voice dangerously even. "The kids are mine. Boy-girl twins. Born September 30th."
