Holden's face shifted from cold, to stiff, to completely rigid. Finally, it settled into an ashen, lifeless gray.

"Did you get a good look?" Leland asked smoothly. "Did Seth and Annie do anything to offend your precious daughter?"

Holden's bloodless lips parted slightly. "It was... a misunderstanding."

Suddenly, something else occurred to him. He stared at Leland, his eyes narrowing in suspicion.

"Aren't you dating Yvette? Where did these twins come from?"

Holden's own sense of shame was quietly eating away at him. If Leland already had children... then Yvette throwing herself at him recently had been an absolute joke. Leland must have been laughing at the Lockwood family behind their backs.

"Me? Dating Yvette?" Leland let out a cold laugh. "Holden, didn't Iris tell you how Yvette ran out of here in total humiliation the other day?"

Holden lowered his eyes.

"I apologize," he said formally. "I love my daughter very much, and I spoil her. When she called saying she was being bullied, I rushed out here only wanting to protect her. I apologize for falsely accusing Seth and Annie without knowing the truth."

He looked earnestly at Annie. "I am so sorry. I was out of line today."

He then looked at Seth, meeting the boy's sharp, unnervingly intelligent eyes. It felt as if Seth's gaze pierced right through his chest, seeing all of his darkest, most insecure thoughts. Holden's fingers curled into tight fists.

He spoke to the child as if addressing a formidable rival.

"I am sorry, Seth. I falsely accused you today."

The footage had been broadcasted publicly, drawing a large crowd. The onlookers were already whispering and pointing, mocking Jordyn's lack of manners.

Holden nudged Jordyn. "Jordyn, come on. Apologize to them."

"NO!" Jordyn sobbed, her whimpers quickly escalating into a full-blown meltdown.

Holden tried to speak gently. "Look, all these people are watching. Good girls admit when they're wrong. You can do this, sweetheart. I know you can."
