As the executives disappeared down the hall, Iris directed her fury at Leland.
"So you acquired Apex Pharmaceuticals, restructured your medical division, and launched High Ridge Pharma. Big deal! Do you really think you're untouchable, Leland? Stealing my husband's clients right in front of us!"
Leland's cold gaze swept over her before landing on Holden. He didn't even dignify her with a response.
Being ignored only fueled Iris's hysterics.
"High Ridge Pharma is just one of ten thousand generic drug companies out there! How exactly do you plan to compete? By sweet-talking Mr. Sawyer into stocking the same basic medicines everyone else sells? You're pathetic!"
Having vented her frustrations, she actually felt a bit better.
She had insulted Leland and propped up her own company in the process.
With Quentin's exclusive, miracle formulas in their possession, Iris-Adams Biopharma was destined to rewrite medical history. They were going to become the titans of the industry.
She would be the one to lead them to the top.
She'd finally have the respect she deserved.
However, the passing guests were shaking their heads in disgust.
Someone whispered, "Is that... the reality TV star, Iris Morgan?"
"Yeah, that's her," a bystander replied.
The first person scoffed. "She is completely different from how she acts on TV. Onscreen, she's supposedly this sweet, pure angel, but in reality... her attitude is absolutely trash."
Iris immediately snapped her head around. "Who are you calling trash?"
The man criticizing her was wearing a short-sleeved shirt despite the winter chill, his arms covered in tattoos. He looked her up and down with pale blue eyes, a look of utter disdain on his face.
"Damn. You're completely insufferable. The real you makes me sick."
"Watch your filthy mouth, you degenerate!"
Iris leaned against Holden, eager to escape. "Honey, let's go."
But her outburst had only provoked the crowd further. More people began joining in, hurling insults at her. The situation was spiraling out of control.
She tugged urgently at Holden's sleeve. "Honey!"
She put on her best fragile, helpless voice, expecting Holden to swoop in and play the hero like he always did.
