Declan Sutton narrowed his eyes, his gaze icy. "For someone like you, even if you ripped out your own heart and died on the operating table for Winifred, no one would shed a single tear to remember you. Let alone your corneas."

Holden had claimed Winifred would feel guilty if she knew. He was giving himself entirely too much credit.

Holden didn't argue. He turned and got into his car, bringing Declan along to a private, internationally funded eye clinic where a specialized medical team was already waiting for him.

The good news of a premium donor reached Winifred's room just as Leland Lockwood burst through the door. Fresh off an international flight, he practically threw himself at her bedside, his brow furrowed with worry.

"Winifred..."

Winifred reached out, her hands grasping at the air. "Leland? You're back?"

"I'm here. You've been through so much."

She shook her head slightly. "It wasn't that bad. It doesn't even hurt... I just can't see."

Leland took her hand in both of his. "I'm back now. I'll find you a fresh donor. I swear to you, I'll help you see the light again."

Tears welled in her unseeing eyes, but a sweet little voice interrupted them.

"Daddy."

Leland snapped his head to the right. Seth's little face was right there. "Hey, buddy. You've been so brave."

He gently pinched the boy's cheek, not daring to hug him too tightly since his wounds were still healing. "How are you feeling?"

"I'm great. Mom says I can go back to my martial arts classes in a month. I'll be totally fine to run around by then."

"And what about your sister? How's she doing?"

"She gets discharged tomorrow. She's still over at the children's hospital. She misses Mom... and she misses you, too."

Leland glanced back at Winifred, a broad smile spreading across his face. "Just a few more days. I'll take your mom home, and our whole family will finally be together."
