Half an hour later, the infant's crying ceased. Wyatt held the baby while Fabiola gently touched his little legs and forehead.

"Ah! The fever's gone down a bit!"

"Let me feel."

"Me too."

The family clustered around the baby. The digital thermometer beeped: 37.2°C, down almost two degrees from before the treatment.

Sylvia was so thrilled she grabbed Winifred's hands. "Darling, you are incredible! You're an absolute lifesaver."

"Mrs. Lockwood, you should go rest. Tonight has been far too stressful for you."

"I will." Sylvia's eyes were filled with grateful tears. "Thank goodness you signed a long-term agreement to help out at Nelly's. It makes it so convenient when I need you."

Since it had come to this, Winifred spoke frankly. "I'm actually leaving the Sutton family."

"What?!"

Several women gasped in shock simultaneously.

Shannon spoke up, "Then... if our family needs help, won't it be difficult to reach you?"

Beside her, Leland's eyes narrowed slightly. The pressure shifted to Sylvia.

She took Winifred's hand. "Let's talk privately."

"Alright."

But not right this second.

"Please rest first, ma'am. I need to head back to grab the holistic herbal patches for the baby's fever. I'll come find you a bit later."

"Perfect." Sylvia called out to her most trusted staff member, "Lily, hurry and drive Dr. Shultz back."

"Yes, ma'am."

As Lily stepped forward, Leland threw an arm out to block her. "I'll drive Dr. Shultz."

The entire Lockwood family froze.

The two of them walked out the door, chatting easily, leaving the people in the room stunned. Sylvia, who had been planning to go upstairs and rest, was suddenly completely energized.

"Did you guys... pick up on that?"

Shannon replied, "Mom, you mean Leland and Dr. Shultz?"

The two women looked at each other and nodded simultaneously.

"I think Leland likes the girl."

Shannon blinked. That's exactly what it looked like. She knew quite a bit about Winifred too. Aside from the frequent news from Nelly about her brilliant medical skills, Winifred had been to the Lockwood Mansion several times. Last summer, Leland injured his leg in a race. Winifred had come over to provide holistic physical therapy. The results were genuinely incredible, and the natural therapies had zero toxic side effects.
