He cast a chilling look at the director, Ms. Albright. "Expel Seth and Annelise."
The director bowed deeply. "Yes, sir."
"I don't want to see them step foot on this campus tomorrow."
"Understood."
Holden gently pinched Jordyn's cheek with a soft smile. "I never let anyone who bullies our girl get away with it."
"As you should. You have every right to protect her."
"To make sure Jordyn enjoys her time at school from now on, I'll have a word with the management of all the nearby kindergartens. They will be forbidden from enrolling Seth and Annelise. They need to stay at least twelve miles away from Jordyn at all times."
The director trembled. "Understood. Jordyn will be our Snow White today. You have my word, Mr. Lockwood."
Holden smiled, tapping Jordyn's nose affectionately.
"Go to class with your teacher. I'll come pick you up for King's Fairy Tale Dining tonight."
Jordyn glanced at Iris. Her aunt wasn't happy today. She had been hurt, and Seth had been so mean. She needed to cheer her aunt up.
"Let's go to the Aqua Park restaurant instead! Aunt Iris loves watching the mermaid shows while listening to the live music."
Holden looked at Iris.
Their eyes met.
He smiled softly. "See? The real treasure of this family is you."
Iris blushed. "You spoil me."
Meanwhile, Seth and Annelise, who had left first, were standing outside the front gates, pouring their hearts out to Celeste.
Celeste was absolutely livid.
She bared her teeth and delivered a hard punch to Jayce's shoulder.
"You useless piece of trash! Go chase your stupid goddess! Pack your bags and get out!"
"I... It's not what you think. Let me explain..."
"Get lost!"
She raised her fist again.
Jayce, thoroughly spooked, bolted toward the parking lot to find Winifred. Winifred had a good temper; she was never mean to him. He'd just beg her for a second chance.
Celeste pulled the two children into a tight hug, wailing dramatically.
"Oh, my poor babies! Heavens above! You were bullied so badly today!"
The emotional outburst triggered Annelise's own sadness all over again.
"I want... I want to go find Daddy."
"I want my daddy! Waaah!"
She slammed on the gas and peeled away, leaving a cloud of exhaust in her wake.
Jayce coughed, standing alone on the sidewalk, muttering to himself.
"Is it really that serious?"
"All I did was fanboy over a celebrity. It's not like I committed a crime. And they just fire me over that?"
His salary had been lucrative.
For someone with a nursing degree, it was an incredibly sweet gig.
The work was easy, the hours were great, and for the last two years, Winifred had treated him like family.
He made good money and lived in a warm, homey environment, spending his days figuring out what to eat and where to play with Celeste. He was so comfortable he had even gained a little weight.
Still, he didn't really want to beg for his job back.
If he didn't have to work, he could dedicate all his time to supporting his goddess.
She had personally invited him to interact with her at the live recording on Thursday.
That was a rare honor. To be noticed by someone like Iris Morgan was a privilege.
Giving everything up for his goddess was completely worth it.
Leaving Winifred was probably for the best.
