A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 67

Not wanting to deal with Holden for a second longer, Seth kept walking, pulling Annelise along without looking back.

But the man stepped forward, taking a long stride to cut them off, blocking the doorway entirely.

Without hesitation, Seth threw his arm out and stepped in front of his sister, shielding her behind him.

Holden tilted his head, studying Annelise intently.

"Little princess... do you look like your mother?"

Just then, Iris rushed over, dragging Jordyn along. She interrupted Holden's train of thought.

"What is it, Holden?"

Holden didn't take his eyes off Annelise. "Smile for me one more time."

It was way out of line.

Was he treating his sister like some kind of performing monkey?

Seth ground his teeth. "Holden! Stop harassing my sister!"

Ms. Miller hurried over, flashing an anxious, placating smile to smooth things over.

"Mr. Lockwood, this whole situation has gotten so messy. It's just a squabble between kids, maybe we should just let it go."

"Seth hasn't apologized to Jordyn! And their parents didn't even show up. We took time out of our incredibly busy schedules for this, and nothing got resolved. Who would be okay with that?" Iris snapped, utterly exasperated.

But Holden's weird behavior made her take a second look at Annelise.

Something felt off.

She tightened her grip.

As soon as she got back to Seaport City, she needed to track down Madeleine and figure out exactly what happened back then...

When Arthur's men had followed Winifred, they saw her go to the maternity hospital for a checkup.

If Winifred didn't die, it was entirely possible she had given birth to a child.

Ms. Miller chimed in nervously, "Seth and Annelise aren't in the best of health. They both have some minor conditions. If you keep pushing them, I'm afraid..."

If the children were frightened into having a medical episode, the kindergarten would be held responsible, and the parents causing the scene wouldn't be able to easily walk away either.

Iris smirked. "So they're sick kids. That explains it..."

She shot Seth a subtle, disdainful glare.

She had never seen a toddler this unnervingly sharp.

He felt like he had the intellect of a ten-year-old.

His composure was unnatural—even a mastermind like Holden had been momentarily stunned by him.

And looking at Annelise just made Iris's blood boil.

Jayce looked overwhelmed with gratitude. "Could I... could I get your number?"

"Sure."

After exchanging contacts, Iris beamed at him with infectious enthusiasm.

"Keep in touch, Jayce!"

"Ah! Absolutely! I would love that. I'm such a huge fan."

"I always love hearing from my fans. I'll be filming episode five of Starstruck Encounters at the Gem Zoo this Thursday. We're having a live audience, and I'd love for you to come and interact with me."

"Wow!" Jayce teared up, completely overcome with emotion. "I... I'll definitely be there! I promise!"

"It's a date. I'll send you an e-ticket."

"That's amazing! Thank you so much! I'll... I'll go take the kids home now."

"Alright. Bye!"

"Bye!"

Jayce practically floated away, looking back longingly with every step.

Iris nudged Holden playfully. "Are you really going to buy the kindergarten for Jordyn?"

"Of course," Holden replied, scooping Jordyn up and pressing a kiss to her chubby cheek. "I won't let our precious girl suffer even the slightest grievance."
