A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 83

"Say no more," Stanley nodded in understanding.

Huxley scooped up Seth, while Stanley lifted Annelise into his arms. They left the third-tier seating area and headed toward the front to watch the mermaid show.

Winifred slipped her mask back on and followed them from a safe distance. The curved Glass Sea observation area was packed with kids who had run down from the cheaper seats to get a view. It wasn't overly crowded, giving Winifred a clear line of sight.

Suddenly, two figures stepped into her view. She instantly recognized Holden Lockwood's aggressively handsome profile and Iris Morgan's glamorous, unmistakable silhouette. She immediately turned her head, scanning the first-tier VIP section. Holden had bought out a massive block of empty seats, yet here he was, aggressively claiming standing room right where the kids were trying to watch.

She didn't know what kind of spell Iris had cast on him, but he had become completely insufferable.

Winifred turned on her heel to walk away, but Holden's voice cut through the noise.

"Dr. Shultz!"

She froze.

"What do you want?" she asked coldly.

Holden sneered. "I should be asking you that. How long are you going to keep up this delusion? I bring my family out to enjoy a show, and here you are, sneaking around stalking us."

He was out of his mind. Only a raging narcissist would come up with a theory like that.

Winifred kept her tone perfectly rational. "I am not stalking you."

"Then what are you doing here?"

"Enjoying my evening."

"Who are you trying to fool? You weren't here yesterday, or the day before. You show up the exact night I'm here."

"It's a coincidence."

"A coincidence? Then why did you turn and run the second you saw Iris and me?"

Winifred turned to face him fully, her eyes icy. "Because when I see people I despise, I prefer to avoid them."

"You're far too kind, but I have to consider your feelings."

Holden raised a hand, flagging down a passing security guard. He pointed a sharp finger at Winifred. "Remove this woman immediately."

The guard, looking incredibly uncomfortable, forced an awkward smile. "Sir, the lady bought a ticket. We don't have a valid reason to kick her out."

Holden's expression darkened into a menacing scowl. "She's stalking me. Her illegal harassment is severely compromising the safety of this park. Is that a good enough reason?"

The guard, instantly intimidated by the sheer hostility radiating off Holden, turned to Winifred. "Ma'am, we maintain a zero-tolerance policy for harassment in public areas. Given that your behavior poses a security risk, I'm going to have to ask you to leave."

Seth and Annelise were still watching the show up front; there was no way Winifred was leaving.

"Don't listen to his insane delusions," she told the guard calmly. "I haven't done anything."

The guard muttered something about needing to get his captain to resolve the dispute. Winifred took the opportunity to walk away, but she couldn't go far. She continuously circled the massive, transparent Glass Sea, ensuring she kept a watchful eye on her two children from a safe distance.
