With Holden's group driven out by Huxley, the Aqua Park felt suddenly peaceful.
The first-tier VIP section was entirely opened up, and all the kids who had been stuck in the back rushed forward, thrilled to finally get a good seat.
Seth and Annelise happily watched the mermaid show surrounded by their new friends. They stayed until the park closed at 10:30 PM.
As they were leaving, the park manager came out personally to see them off. Per Huxley's instructions, he handed Seth and Annelise two lifetime VIP passes.
Seth looked up, his small face entirely serious. "Are Holden Lockwood, Iris Morgan, Jordyn Morgan, Quentin Adams, Shelly Hale, Larissa Jordan, and Demi Jordan in the blacklist system?"
"They absolutely are, young man," the manager assured him eagerly. "Rest assured, I will personally ensure those individuals are permanently banned from entering."
Seth glanced at Huxley. The two exchanged a silent, knowing look.
Winifred watched her son and Huxley communicate in code, her brows furrowing slightly.
As soon as they stepped out of the main gates, she turned to Huxley and Stanley to say her goodbyes.
"Dr. Shultz, let me drive you all home," Stanley offered. He needed her to treat his chronic neck and back pain, so staying on her good side was crucial.
But Winifred didn't operate like that. She didn't care if a patient sucked up to her; she practiced medicine strictly based on professional ethics.
"That's kind of you, but no thank you. We're waiting for Celeste."
Shortly after they had arrived at the park, Celeste had heard that Holden had rented out a massive section of seats and went to investigate. She hadn't returned to regroup with them yet.
Stanley insisted. "I'll wait with you. The kids must be exhausted. It'll be much more comfortable for them in my car."
Before Winifred could reply, Quentin's voice called out from her left.
"Winifred!"
Footsteps rushed toward them, and within seconds, Quentin was standing right in front of her.
Winifred decisively urged Stanley and Huxley to leave, needing to handle this private mess on her own.
"I thought you were going to a college reunion," she said coldly. "How did you end up playing lapdog to Holden Lockwood and Iris Morgan?"
Quentin's face burned crimson. "I... I... Winifred, let's just go home first. I'll explain everything when we get back."
Her heart was completely broken. Just that afternoon, she had called Quentin, crying and telling him how much she needed him after getting kicked out of kindergarten.
She hadn't gotten any comfort or encouragement.
Instead, he had gone out and partied with the very people who had hurt them.
It felt like something had pierced her little heart. It hurt so much.
She was never going to need him again!
Panic seized Quentin. He reached out to grab her.
"Baby, please, come to Daddy. Just listen to me..."
Of the three of them, Annelise was the most fragile. She needed him the most and loved him the deepest. If even Annelise didn't want him anymore, it meant his last thread of control over Winifred was about to snap.
But Winifred didn't give him the chance.
She scooped her daughter into her arms, turned her body away, and delivered a glacial warning. "Quentin, do not touch my daughter."
