Anyone who dared touch his ultimate prize always met a miserable end. Holden was fiercely protective of Iris and ruthless when it came to revenge.
Jordyn and the rest of the group turned to Holden, waiting for him to unleash hell. They fully expected him to financially ruin Huxley and hand him over to Iris on a silver platter as an apology for the disrespect.
However...
"Let's go," Holden said curtly. Without a single second of hesitation, he walked toward the door.
Huxley stood blocking the exit with Seth in his arms. As Holden squeezed past, he lowered his head slightly.
"My apologies, Mr. Huxley. I'll formally apologize to your brother another day."
"Go screw yourself! I'm not giving you the chance!"
Huxley was the third son of the Sheldon family. With two highly capable older brothers handling the heavy lifting and a younger sister keeping their mother happy, he lived a free, unapologetically arrogant life. He didn't care about elite society rules. He barely cared about school, preferring video games since middle school. He went to a perfectly average university, started his own gaming software company, and lived like a brilliant, wealthy recluse. He had a notorious temper and bowed to absolutely no one.
"Why are you cursing at people?" Iris demanded, genuinely offended.
Huxley pointed at her again. "I'm going to make sure you rot in the entertainment industry. Just wait and see!"
"You—"
Realizing Holden had already walked out, Iris suddenly found herself entirely without backup. Tears spilled down her cheeks, and she turned and ran after him in a panic.
Jordyn was left behind with Quentin's group. She had no idea what had just happened. But Uncle Holden had left with a dark scowl, and her aunt had been yelled at until she cried. Her perfect night was ruined.
*Waaah...*
She raised her arms, demanding Quentin pick her up.
Quentin looked at Seth.
Seth sneered coldly. "Go ahead, pick her up. She's your precious goddess's niece. She's Holden's little princess. Keep kissing up to them so they can help you ruin my mom and take the whole clinic for yourself."
Quentin's face turned a sickly shade of pale. "Seth, don't say things like that."
He glared at her, his eyes blazing with warning. "Do not breathe a word about Winifred or Seth to anyone!"
Shelly pried his fingers off, her face flushing red with anger. "Use your words! Why are you grabbing me?"
"I'm warning you to keep your mouth shut. You are not to interfere in Winifred's life. If you dare leak a single detail about her children to Iris Morgan, I will—"
"You'll what? Kill me for the love of your life?"
"I will ruin you! Those kids are Winifred's life. If you touch them, you and I are done!"
Quentin pulled out a cigarette, leaned against the car door, and lit it, smoking in heavy, agitated silence.
"Take a cab home!"
He didn't spare them another glance. When a man turned cold, all past affections meant absolutely nothing.
