A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 98

Winifred shook her head, forcing the memories away.

"Let's just focus on business first. Romance can wait. Is that acceptable?"

Leland clutched the tissue, seeing she was on the verge of tears. He nodded gently. "Alright."

"I've formulated several innovative botanical remedies," she explained, switching to professional mode. "I want to trademark them and partner with a manufacturer. But I don't have the corporate experience to navigate that. Can you help me?"

Leland's eyes lit up. "Perfect timing."

Winifred frowned. "What do you mean?"

"Next week, our medical division is officially taking over a traditional pharmaceutical manufacturer. The factory lacked innovation and was on the brink of bankruptcy. If you can bring fresh formulas to the table, it's exactly what we need to revitalize it."

"So..." Winifred trailed off. She had never navigated corporate acquisitions before; it sounded overwhelming.

Leland didn't miss a beat. "When the restructuring happens, I’ll bring you on board as a shareholder. You provide the formulas, you get equity. The corporate team will handle the manufacturing, patents, and legal tape. You get the financial reward without any of the administrative headaches, allowing you to focus entirely on development."

"Deal," she agreed instantly.

It was the perfect arrangement. Her daily routine wouldn't change. She could take care of the twins, make a massive profit, and keep doing what she loved.

Leland chuckled. "Congratulations on joining Lockwood Group, Ms. Shultz."

"Just wait for my call. Once the medical division is prepped, I'll bring you in to finalize the details."

"Thank you, Mr. Lockwood."

Leland slid a document across the table. "Before we draw up the shareholder agreement, sign this."

He handed her a pen. Winifred took it, signing her name on the personal physician contract and stamping her seal.

"I'll come with you," Iris offered.

"No, stay here. Your heels are too high," Holden said gently. "Just go inside and rest with Kian and Preston."

Iris beamed, visibly touched by his consideration. She nodded obediently and walked into Leland's office.

Since Leland had to handle his delayed meetings, he instructed his assistant and driver to take Winifred home.

Led by the assistant, Winifred took the executive elevator down to the private underground garage, actively avoiding the direction Holden had gone.

However, as they approached Leland's luxury car...

Holden was standing right next to the passenger door.

He had his hands shoved in his pockets, a twisted, mocking smirk on his face. "So, Dr. Shultz, did you hear? I'm getting engaged."
