It was the Arcane Workbench Chloe had been yearning for.
Outside, the torrential rain still raged, the icy water so cold it set her teeth chattering, but Chloe’s heart was blazing with heat. She’d been waiting for this workbench for far too long.
The materials for the Basic Arcane Defense Tower had been feady and waiting. All that had been missing was this one piece. It had solved her most urgent problem in a single stroke.
Chloe drew a deep breath. She stared at the magical fishing rod in her hands and couldn’t stop herself from crowing out loud. “You’re the smartest, most treasure-savvy magical fishing rod in the entire world.
“I’m so incredibly lucky to be your master. You’re a natural-born treasure hunter. Absolutely incredible.”
The rod gave a faint tremble, almost as if it could understand her words.
She didn’t fish any longer. Her Dampness was at its limit. She stowed the rod, retreated into the wooden cabin, and tossed her soaked clothes into a rainwater bucket to rinse them out.
She lit the Basic BBQ Grill and let the fire warm her. She also used the Arcane Stat Card she’d just pulled.
Notification: [Magic +1. Current Magic: 9.]
Her Magic stat had climbed to a truly terrifying level.
She checked her stores of rabbit and chicken. The system warned that her surplus meat would begin to rot after today.
She had no way to preserve it yet. She hung the more palatable chicken over the grill and opened the upgrade interface for the Arcane Workbench. She’d moved the Workbench into the cabin some time ago.
Upgrading to the Arcane Workbench required 10 units of Magical Materials.

the magical materials she now possessed included the Pristine Slime Core, an Inferior Legendary material that served as Elemental Energy Source and Medium.
The Ignis Crystal was an Epic magical crystal and High-Magic Energy Medium The Wood Sprite Corpse was a Rare material with Superior Life Activity,
The Vitality Ooze was an Epic Vital Fuel. The Eyes of the Crimson Wyrm were Rare and served as magical Elemental Mediums.
The Ignis Crystals were Premium ore imbued with man. The Treant Essence was a Common material with trace magical elements.
The ten Ignis Crystals and twelve Treant Essences had come from her trades with NobleScalper and CarpenterSoul. She’d traded the Epic Slime Essence to Eureka for information.
Her stock of truly high-grade magical materials wasn’t much.
What was more, the Basic Arcane Defense Tower required 10 magical materials, 100 Premium Wooden Logs, 20 Premium Iron Ingots, 50 Premium binding substances, and one Rare High-Magic Medium.
Her supplies were just barely enough for the tower. It hit Chloe for the first time just how little high-grade magical material she actually had.
The Wish Rod itself had also consumed an Epic magical crystal when she’d upgraded it. She suspected that the higher the grade of the materials, the better the final product would be.
She stared at her supplies. She now had three more umbrellas on hand. As desperately as she wanted to build the Arcane Workbench, she was also good at biding her time.
She wasn’t satisfied with her current magical materials. She decided to aim higher, to build both the Arcane Workbench and the Basic Arcane Defense Tower with the best materials she could secure.
Once her body was dry and she’d finished the grilled chicken off the BBQ, she checked that her debuffs had diminished and opened the Trading Post.
Chloe: [Trading umbrellas for Premium or higher magical materials. DM me if interested.]
Umbrellas were a hot commodity in this rain. Her best umbrella was technically still with the Alchemist’s Apprentice player she’d helped, but the girl hadn’t offered to return it.
‘Perhaps her situation is still dire,’ Chloe thought and didn’t press, the issue.
The moment her listing went up, her private messages flooded. She filtered out the lowballers and the beggars, until her eyes landed on one particular chat window.
RichDragonWolf: [Hey, you there? I’ve got a pile of magical materials. I’ll take all your umbrellas.]
Chloe remembered this player. His talent was combat-oriented, and he was always hunting monsters. It wasn’t strange that he’d have materials.
Chloe: [I’m here. I have three umbrellas right now. Rainy-day markup: 10 Premium magical materials each.
[If you have high-grade plant fiber materials, I can also custom-craft a higher-grade umbrella.]
RichDragonWolf: [I’ll take them all.
[You have the umbrella blueprint, right? How many can you make in a day?}
