Chapter 73
Of course, Chloe was going to upgrade it. With all the arcane materials she had now, it was the perfect time
But just before she started, Chloe suddenly remembered something.
In the Player’s Backpack she’d gotten earlier, there were still three Player Material Chests she hadn’t opened yet. Each was packed with all sorts of materials.
She’d been so busy lately that she’d almost forgotten about them.
Now, she decided to crack them all open at once and see if her talent could make an even bigger impact.
With that in mind, Chloe found the three Material Chests in her inventory.
The System asked: [Do you want to open them all at once?]
Of course, Chloe opened them all in one go.
The System said: [Congratulations. You’ve received 200 Premium Snow Fir Wood, 553 Rare Flame Fir Wood, 444 Rare Crystal Iron Ore, 121 Rare Wood Essence Plant Fibers, and 118 Flame Essence Clay.
[Congratulations. You’ve received 200 Common Wood, 200 Common Iron Ore, 50 Common Stones, and 560 Commo Glass Panes.
[Congratulations. You’ve received 20 Rare Cloudweave Cloth.
[Congratulations. You’ve received 998 Energy Essence Ore.]
Eight advanced Players contributed, and three Material Chests were opened.
The sheer amount of loot still left Chloe, who was practically penniless, completely stunned.
It felt like suddenly stumbling across a forgotten bank card, only to find tens of thousands of dollars sitting in the account She was utterly floored.
It was like hitting the jackpot out of nowhere.
All this loot left Chloe completely surprised.
Chloe couldn’t help but feel a wave of gratitude toward Dawn in her heart. Thank you, my little angel pup. This haul is insane. There’s just so much stuff.
I’ve finally got everything I need to build that glass greenhouse I’ve been dreaming about.”
Chloe took a few deep breaths, trying to rein in her excitement after/hitting the jackpot.
She thought to herself, ‘It’s already day nine of the starter phase. I should save some Talent Points for when I get better materials. Once the starter phase is over, I can upgrade the Purification Device right away.
Chloe hit the upgrade.
Thanks to her talent, the upgrade finished in a flash.
As soon as she clicked, the results showed up instantly: [Arcane Workbench That Just Wants to Slack Off: It hates working. hates overtime, and despises endless grind. Its biggest dream is to lay around and gather dust.

[Effect 1: When crafting items, the longer the Arcane Workbench sits idle, the higher the chance it produces items wit boosted quality and power.
(Sometimes, it’ll even use arcane materials to create magic items, breaking past the usual quality cap.
[Effect 2: If the Arcane Workbench is forced to work nonstop, there’s a chance it’ll trigger ‘Slacker Mode, making crafti take longer, burnt through more materials, and the items might end up with strange side effects.
[Effect 3: The Arcane Workbench loves Energy Cores. It needs a paycheck. When it gets paid, its mood goes up and it’s more willing to work for its owner.
[If the pay is too low, there’s a chance it’ll trigger the ‘Why Bother?’ debuff, and a small chance it might just self-destruc
[Magic Threat Level: Low
[Magic Traits: High Vitality, Slacker, Couch Potato, Self-Growing.
[New Exclusive Mood Value: 305/350. It glanced at its to-do list and saw two days of work tasks still waiting-now it’s fee a mix of awe and dread.]
Chloe stared at the Arcane Workbench with its quirky attitude, and her expression was absolutely priceless.
Talk about a workbench with attitude,’ she thought. ‘Looks like it’s about to start a workplace revolution.
If it wasn’t her own workplace getting turned upside down, she’d be thrilled
But when Chloe saw the Arcane Workbench’s magic traits-High Vitality and Self-Growing-she had a sinking feeling.
She immediately opened up her arcane materials inventory.
And the moment she saw how little was left, it felt like the sky was falling for Chloe.
She knew her magic talent was a big eater, but she never realized it was such a bottomless pit.
It went straight for the premium arcane materials, totally snubbing anything low-tier.
It gobbled up one Special Vitality Essence, the Vitality Core Chloe just got from the Snow Rabbit, one Epic Vitality Fuel, ten Rare Active Vitality Fuel, and even her one and only Epic Frost Slime Essence.
All the Withered Spiritual Plants were wiped out, and every type of Snow Essence took a serious hit.
Even those Arcane Hound Fangs and Arcane Goat Horns Chloe had been hoarding in the corner from monster dropped ages ago-gone, just like that.
‘Seriously, are you some kind of bottomless pit? How can you eat this much?’ Chloe thought.
Staring at her arcane materials, now completely drained, Chloe stood there wishing she could strangle the Arcane Workbench-if only it had a neck-until it coughed up all her stuff
It even swallowed a Legendary Energy Core.
For a moment, Chloe felt like some evil slave master, greedy tycoon, or villainous boss. She was ready to grab a whip and make that Arcane Workbench work like crazy, nonstop.
‘Overtime. Chloe thought. ‘Make it work overtime, nonstop. Forget 996-this Arcane Workbench is working 24/7, 365 days a year, no days off.
Her mind was full of dramatic inner monologues, but on the outside, Chloe kept a straight face.

Crouching beside the Arcane Workbench, Chloe spoke in a heartfelt tone, like a veteran giving advice to a stubborn newcomer. “Hey, Slacky, you’re still young.
“You need to learn to be ambitious, work hard, and keep growing. Sharpen your forging skills, and maybe one day you’l become a legendary Arcane Workbench. Am I right?
