Chapter 85
As soon as Chloe spotted her beloved buildings, she rushed to check their special statuses
The notification read: [Fog Erosion: On foggy days shrouded in all kinds of complex Corruption gases building expert for too long will keep accumulating Erosion Points.
[Once the Erosion Points hit 100, the building suffers 50 damage (shields can’t block it), and this can stack
[Current Erosion Points: Arcane Defense Tower, Arcane Workbench… Tap for details.]
With her Lord panel, Chloe could easily see that each building had a different Erosion Points. She expanded the details to check the exact numbers.
Only her Legendary Arcane Defense Tower was unaffected.
But other buildings, like the lower–level Slime Cabin, had already racked up 46 Erosion Points without her even noticing.
Chloe instantly realized that, for Players, the biggest headache today was their buildings.
Damaging the buildings in their territory was way more troublesome than hurting the Players themselves.
Chloe hurried over to the Slime Cabin, grabbed some Wooden Logs, lit a torch, and held it close to the cabin.
Sure enough, the Erosion Points dropped a bit.
It worked. Looked like we need some light.
Chloe quickly figured out what to do. She opened her Lord panel, moved the Campfire from the Snow Canopy, and placed it burning right beside the Slime Cabin.
The snow had totally melted today. The game world didn’t care about logic.
The temperature had jumped from 1.4°F or -0.4°F yesterday to a comfortable 70/F today.
It was warm–neither too hot nor too cold.
The ground was soaked and muddy from the melted snow. Even with her adventure boots, her whole foot sank deep into the muck.
The earth was so soft and the fog so thick that she could barely see a thing/With no sun to dry it out, the soil was disgustingly wet.
Some patches were sneakily softer than the rest, like assassins lying in wait, with pockets of air ready to swallow her boots.
Chloe stepped down, and with a loud squelch, a jet of dirty water shot out, splattering all the way across. She had no clue which unlucky building got hit by the mess.
Chloe took a deep breath, pinching the bridge of her nose, feeling like she was about to pass out.
‘Ugh, so dirty, Chloe thought.
With the fog and the soggy ground, every step felt like she was in a tug–of–war with the earth just to move forward.
Chloe could feel her mild clean freak tendencies about to evolve into full–blown obsession.
If there were Environment Score and Comfort Score right now, Chloe was sure hers would be dead last.
Chapter 85
Chloe forced herself to stay calm, expressionless as she trudged through the muddy ground, her boots making loud squelching noises with every step.
She set up a fire pit using the grill and Campfire right next to the Slime Cabin.
With her keen eyes, Chloe couldn’t help but notice the grill sitting smack in the middle of the soaked, muddy ground
She tried hard to pretend she didn’t see it.
Then Chloe pulled up the blueprint for streetlights. She hadn’t checked out the special arcane hydroelectric engineering tutorial yet, so she was working with the basic streetlight design for now.
That was good enough for now.
She needed to craft them at the Arcane Workbench, and it wouldn’t take long.
The materials were simple: 5 Wooden Logs, 1 Iron Ingot, 2 Stones, 3 Charcoal, and 1 Glass Pane–all basic stuff.
Chloe happened to have 134 Glass Panes left.
She spent some Energy and instantly built 5 streetlights.
The notification popped up: [Consumed 120 Energy. Obtained 5 Common Streetlights.]
That was when the territory zoning map finally showed its true value.
The territory expansion blueprint Chloe had gotten earlier was designed to work directly on the territory map.
Normally, the system’s territory map only showed the locations of all the facilities and building details. Moving buildings around was basically guesswork.
But with the territory zoning map, it was like unlocking a special plugin for CAD software.
Chloe’s streetlights appeared grid by grid, just like in classic city–building games, and she could simply drag–and–drop them into place.
There were guide lines to help her choose the perfect spot, optimal route suggestions, visual previews of how the streetlights would impact nearby buildings, and even real–time lighting range effects.
It was every base–building player’s dream come true.
With a few quick moves on the territory zoning map, Chloe had all five streetlights perfectly placed. Every building was within the glow, and they could all look out for each other.
Sure enough, the streetlights‘ glow did help hold back the erosion to some extent.
Plus, since the streetlights were powered by fire, the effect was actually quite effective.
With these streetlights, the territory that had been nearly invisible in the thick fog now had warm firelight piercing through the mist, making Chloe feel a bit safer.
Chloe grimaced as she trudged through the sticky, muddy ground, forcing herself over to her garden to check how her plants were holding up.
As soon as she got close, Chloe almost burst out laughing.
The Mutated Fire Fleece–Grass was practically radiating Magic, with fireballs zipping around the sky like they were on a mission to clear out the log.

Chapter 85
Meanwhile, the Charged Fire–Leech Moss was nestled quietly at the feet of the Fleece–Grass.
Even more, Chloe caught sight of a familiar figure.
The Intermediate Arcane Dew Collector was snuggled right up next to the Mutated Fleece–Grass, its base surrounded by, a bunch of muddy potholes.
For some reason, Chloe could totally imagine this “living the good life” dew collector having a full–on meltdown.
She couldn’t help but crack up.
Chloe immediately spent another 50 Energy to make more streetlights.
“The annoying part is,‘ Chloe thought, ‘if the Arcane Workbench is already busy, I have to use Energy to craft. And what worse, if I keep building the same structure, the Energy cost stacks up every time.
