CHAPTER NINETY-SEVEN-2
“You don’t smell like a wolf, are you human?” Dominic asked, looking at him.
“Nope. I’m a witch/wizard.”
“Hmm…” The room suddenly became slightly tensed. As much as we had a truce with witches, werewolves never really wanted them as wives or husbands, they were just too corny.
And with the recent incident with Yasmine, their level of hatred and prejudice was even worse.
Seeing the wheels turning in their heads, Marcus said quickly. “Listen, I know my kind has a bad rep. But trust me, I’m not a threat. And I don’t plan on causing any trouble. I’m just here for Maxine, and her alone. I have no interest in trying to cause troubles for werewolves or your pack. I just want to spend time with my wife. I have no ill intentions.”
Maxine smiled, and squeezed his hand and they stared at each other with so much love and adoration, and it made me realize how lucky she was.
Dominic and Giovanni’s attention were on Maxine, and she seemed to notice it, because she said, “Marcus is the only one who has ever treated me right. He never hurt me, not even by accident. He was always gentle and kind. And he never forced me into anything. He was the one that made sure I was eating right and healthy. And he always put my needs above his. He has always treated me right. And that is why I love him. Why I married him.”
“If you’re happy then that is all that matters. We will respect and support your decision.” Giovanni said, and the Dominic nodded.
Maxine was surprised, but her face quickly lit up. “Really? You will? I can’t tell you how relieved I am. Because, if not, I would have done the unthinkable.”
“We know. You’re just like Gio. Stubborn. We don’t want to lose you for the second time, just because we can’t accept the person that makes you happy. We will always support your decisions. We just want you to be happy. That’s all that matters. We can see that Marcus truly loves you. So, we have no reason to doubt him. And we will try our best to trust him.” Dominic said, and smiled at
her.
“Thanks. You don’t know how much this means to me.”
Then an hour later, the next guests arrived. Lorenzo, Felicia and their eight year old daughter,
Gianna.
Lorenzo was Gio and Dominic’s maternal cousin, and Felicia was his wife. They were a happy couple, and the perfect family.

Felicia was the typical Italian beauty. She had red hair, green eyes, and had the most flawless skin.
She was the definition of perfection, and her daughter Gianna was just like her.
But she was shy and reserved.
Liam, however, was not. He was excited to see another kid around his age, and quickly befriended
her.
After a few hours of getting to know each other, everyone had settled in and were chatting and laughing as we enjoyed our dinner.
Dominic and Giovanni couldn’t keep their eyes off Maxine, and their happiness and relief were
evident.
I had never seen the brothers happier, and they seemed at peace. They finally had their sister back, and things were slowly falling into place.
And, the look in their eyes.
It was like the weight of the world had been lifted off their shoulders, and they had been given a
second chance.
Giovanni was no longer the brooding man he once was, and Dominic had lost his edge.
They both looked happy. They had broken the generational trauma that their father left them.
Their family was complete.
And, that was the best gift they could have ever gotten.
It was the perfect Christmas.
The best Christmas I could ever ask for.
And it was the first time in years, that we were having a happy family dinner. And I finally felt like I had family. I could see my late parents smiling down at me, and could hear them say, “We are proud of you.”
And, it was the best feeling in the world.
To have family.
To have friends.
To be surrounded by love and warmth.
To have those people that would do anything for you, and would protect you no matter the cost.

That was the best feeling ever.

The house was filled with love and laughter, and everyone was happy and cheerful. Gianna and Liam were hitting it off pretty quickly, and their two years age gap seemed nonexistent as they
both bonded and played.
Valerie and Giovanni were cuddled together, and her mood swings were no more as she had calmed down and was now in a happy mood.
Everyone was enjoying their meal, and were talking.
Lorenzo, Felicia and their daughter had flown in from New York. And Lorenzo was happy to see Maxine again after so many years and they were catching up.
Maxine, Dominic and Giovanni were talking about their father and his death. They had a lot of catching up to do, and I could see the love and adoration Maxine had for her brothers, they were finally giving themselves the love they deserved, the love they never got from their father.
And that made me feel so happy.
The doorbell rang, and I wondered who could be coming at this hour.
Everyone else was here.”
Who else could it be?
“Are you expecting anybody else?” I turned to Dominic.
“No. We’re all complete.” He replied, also as confused as I was.
Dominic got up and walked over to the door, and I heard a female voice.
I quickly got up and walked towards the living room, following him. I heard Dominic mutter in
confusion. “Tricia?”
Then I saw her.
Blonde hair, blue eyes, pale skin and a slim figure. She was tall, and gorgeous.
And when she smiled, her fangs peeked out.
Vampire.
I haven’t seen one in years.
“Surprise!” She said, throwing her hands up in the air as she jumped into his arms.
I could feel my heart sink and shatter as I watched him hug her.
