CHAPTER HUNDRED-TWO

“Because I didn’t want anyone to know about him yet. Turns out, he had a girlfriend so I moved
along.”
“I see.” I muttered.
The air was thick, and the tension was evident.

Felicia looked at me, and frowned. She then turned to Tricia. “Well, maybe it’s a sign that it wasn’t meant to be. Your own man is out there, waiting for you to finally meet him. You just need to be patient and have faith.”
“Yeah, well. Maybe. I’ve had some bad luck with love though, and it’s put me off a lot. I’m not the same Tricia anymore, and my taste in men has changed. Now, I want a bad boy. Like, really bad. One with tattoos, and piercings, and one who smokes and drinks and does drugs. Or maybe blood. I’ve tried dating a few vampires, but none of them has matched my freak. They’re too soft and not bad enough. And most of them have a thing for humans.”
“Yeah, the vampire world is so conservative, it’s like a damn cult. Most of the men there are either married, gay, or both. You really have to dig deep in order to find one who is available, and single. And when you do, he probably wants a girl who he can have a family with, or he’s still trying to figure himself out.”
“Yeah, true. It’s sad though, because the ones who are straight and single, are either taken or not my type. Some are so old, and I mean like, super old. Like, 1000 year old old.”
“I’ve had a couple of vampire boyfriends. It wasn’t a pleasant experience, so I would suggest that you stay away. Trust me, nothing good ever comes out of a relationship with a vampire. Nothing.”
“So, what’s your ideal man?” Felicia asked.
“My perfect guy is Dominic…” She immediately rephrased it. “Not him, but a human version of him. Like, he’s so fucking perfect, you know? Tall, dark, handsome. Bad boy with a good heart. Dangerous, but loving. Someone who can protect and provide for his woman, and give her the life she deserves. But, he’s also caring, and romantic, and funny, and a gentleman. You know, someone who can sweep you off your feet and give you the whole nine yards. Flowers, dates, vacations, the whole package. It’s rare to find a man who has the qualities of both worlds. A perfect blend of danger, and romance.
She had so much to say about Dominic, and it just proved my assumptions right. She wanted him, and she was determined to win him over. But, I didn’t want to let her know that I had noticed her

I wasn’t about to play her stupid game.

“There are many people out there, so I’m sure you’ll eventually meet the one. You just need to keep
your eyes open.”
“You’re right. I’m still waiting.”
“It will happen, trust me.”
“Thanks, Felicia.”
“No problem. But, we’ll get going to bed now. We’ll leave you guys to finish up, and enjoy the rest of
your evening.”
“Yeah, me too. I’m exhausted.” Valerie said as Giovanni took her hands and led her inside.
“Me three.” I said, looking at Dominic. He smiled and stood up, helping me off the chair.
“I’ll
go
check on Liam, and say goodnight. I’ll be right back.”
“Okay, no problem.”
Dominic headed upstairs, and the rest followed.
Now, I was alone with her.
“Hailey, can I have a word with you?”
“Sure.”
“It’s just that, I want you to know that Dominic means a lot to me, and I care for him. He’s been such a big part of my life, and has had a huge impact. When I saw the ring, and him propose, well, it just felt weird. It felt like I was intruding, and I didn’t want to make you feel uncomfortable. But, it just came out. I didn’t mean to, and I’m sorry. I know you must’ve gotten the wrong idea, and felt threatened. But, the truth is, I’m not. Trust me, I don’t want Dominic that way. He’s all yours. No need to be scared.” She said with fake sincerity that anyone else could have been fooled, but not
I could see the mischievous look in her eyes, and the way she spoke, the way she looked at me. I knew that she was lying, and I was not falling for her charades.
“Tricia, it’s fine. I get it. No need to keep trying to prove a point, you know? And I’m never scared, because I trust Dominic. I know he only sees you as just his sister, nothing more. And it’s fine for you to want a man with similar characteristics as him. But I do know, Dominic would never, ever, be with you. That’s something that I know for sure.”

“You know what, Hailey. I like you. And I’m not one who says that often. So, it must mean something. But, if you’re not careful, because there are lots of ladies waiting for the slightest opportunity to strike, and well, Dominic is one hot piece of ass. You could lose him to some greedy bitch. Especially the ones who are dying for the title of Mrs. King.”
“That’s cute, Tricia. But, I’m not worried. I don’t need to be scared about someone taking him away from me. We don’t fight for men over here. Dominic went for what he wants and I think he already proved it today by proposing, don’t you think? And also with a ring that you can only give to one woman in your entire lifetime, and he chose me to have it. So, I have nothing to worry about.”
“Oh, that’s very clever. Wow, he is really something, huh? He is so thoughtful and caring. That’s why I want a man like him, who would do the sweetest things for me.”
