CHAPTER HUNDRED-NINE-1

DOMINIC

I didn’t realize how much time we’d wasted here until I checked to see it was almost twelve in the midnight, and Tricia was drunk out of her mind.

She had gone from drinking one shots, to multiple and soon became emotional about all she’s had to go through from a young age. From her mother almost aborting her, to always rubbing it in her face that she was born by mistake, to her father never wanting anything to do with her because all he wanted was a male child.

She cried about how she’s never been able to experience what true love feels like, and the people she expected it from the most were the ones who turned their backs on her. She cried about how hard she tried to find true love in all the relationships she’d been in, but it never worked out.

She cried about her struggles as a child, and how hard she tried to make everyone proud, and not disappoint anyone. But, in the end, all she had was an empty life with no one to turn to.

I didn’t know that the people who were supposed to protect her, and be there for her, treated her so badly. They were the people who should have protected her, but ended up breaking her.

The fact that her parents could treat their own child like this was unbelievable. She admitted to even feeling relieved when her father passed, because he would always make her feel like the biggest mistake of his life.

And, the worst part was that, she had no one to talk to, or no one to confide in.

I knew her parents weren’t exactly the greatest, and I knew things weren’t the best. But, the extent of which was unimaginable.

And now, looking at her like this, crying and broken, I felt sad for her. She had been taking so hard, building her dream career, and people could only see what she showed them.

But, behind the mask, she was a mess.

She had no one to hold her or comfort her. No one to tell her it was going to be okay. No one to wipe away her tears and hold her while she cries.

I never realized that Tricia had such a hard time growing up. She seemed fine, and she seemed to

be coping.

But in reality, she was drowning.

And the more she drank, the more she talked. She had revealed everything. Her struggles, her pain,

her sorrows, her dreams, her goals, her wishes, her fantasies, her life. Everything.

And, I listened.

I listened, and took her hand. I wiped her tears, and hugged her.

It was the least I could do, and she had no one. She had been through hell and back, and had no

one.

No wonder she couldn’t control herself when it came to her cravings and thirst.

She was just a lonely girl, desperate for love, attention, and someone to hold. I knew her father was an asshole, and her mother was never really there, but I didn’t realize that things were so bad.

She has had so much pressure put on her, and had to grow up so fast.

When her father passed, Tricia had become the sole provider and protector. And, I felt guilty.

I had left her.

I had left her alone, and she had to deal with it all on her own.

I was supposed to be her best friend, her protector, her shoulder to cry on. And, I abandoned her.

And, I regretted it.
