CHAPTER HUNDRED-THIRTYONE
HAILEY
I heard shouts and chaos outside, and I opened my eyes, wondering what the noise was all about. Dominic’s hand was still wrapped around my waist, and he was still fast asleep. The past two days have been so hard on him, I wasn’t surprised he was sleeping so deeply.
I carefully untangled myself from his arms and got out of bed. I put on a robe and walked out of
the bedroom, following the sounds of commotion.
I was surprised to find a group of humans, police vehicles and all, in front of the house, some
already stepping inside. I saw the main gate was wide open, with human police officers standing
guard.
I rushed down the stairs, my heart pounding in my chest. Giovanni was already there, talking to one
of the officers, a grim look on his face. He was trying to block them from coming further into the
house.
“What’s going on?” I asked, my voice trembling.
“Where is that bastard son of a bitch! Tell him to come out and explain what he did to my son! I
know he did it! That monster!”
A man was screaming at the top of his lungs, pushing past the officers and making a beeline for the living room. He was flanked by two more men who looked like bodyguards. He looked familiar, and then it hit me. I’d seen him in photos with Adrian. It was his father, Jonathan Sandler.
He had threatened that he was going to come here and get justice for Adrian, and now he was here. And he brought the human police with him. This was not going to end well.
“Where is he?” he roared, his eyes wild with rage and grief. He scanned the room, and when they
landed on me, a look of pure venom crossed his face. “You! You’re his mate! Where the fuck is your
Alpha?”
“I’m right here.”
I turned to see Dominic standing at the top of the stairs, now fully dressed. His face was a mask of cold fury, his eyes glowing with a dangerous light. He had a serious expression, and the raw power of the Alpha was rolling off him in waves.
He walked down the stairs, his movements slow and deliberate, like a predator stalking its prey. He didn’t show any signs of fear, unlike me who was shaking on the inside. He looked ready for a fight.
“Mr. Sandler,” Dominic said, his voice dangerously low and calm. “To what do I owe the

displeasure?”

“Don’t you dare act innocent with me, you monster! You know exactly why I’m here! You and your pack of animals have my son! What did you do to him?”
“I already told you, friend. I also have no idea. All attempts to find your son have been futile. You didn’t have to go through this route. We have known long enough to do this.”
“Bullshit!” Jonathan roared, taking a step closer to him. “I know you have something to do with his disappearance. I know it! I knew it was a big mistake to ever trust you mutty animals! I thought you were different from the rest of your kinds! We’ve partnered for years, only for you to kill my boy.”
“My pack and I are conducting a thorough investigation. We are doing everything we can to find him. We are also worried about him, but you came here with an army of humans, making things worse.”
“I don’t believe you! You’re just trying to cover your tracks. You’re a murderer, Dominic. A cold blooded murderer.”
I could see Dominic’s jaw clenching, a muscle ticking in his cheek. “Johnathan, you need to leave.” He was no longer calling him a friend, the tension was palpable. He was getting to the point where he would snap.
“Not until I find my son! Or at least get a confession from you. Or even better, I get to have my justice with my own hands.”
I could see Giovanni and a few other pack members flanking Dominic, their bodies tensed, ready for a fight. Fear coursed through me as my heart beat erratically. Jonathan’s men, I could now tell were heavily armed. What if they opened fire? What if they used silver bullets?
“I’m going to ask you one last time, Sandler,” Dominic said, his voice dangerously low, he was losing all the patience he had. “Take your men and get off my property. Or else.”
“Or else what? You’ll kill me too? Just like you killed my son? You’ll tell your pack of mutts to maul me to death like they did my son? You are all monsters! All of you!”
The lead police officer, a tired looking man with a mustache, stepped forward. “Mr. Sandler, please. We need to handle this by the book.”
“Fuck the book!” Jonathan screamed, pushing him aside. He turned back to Dominic, his eyes blazing with a hatred so intense it was almost physical. “I will not leave until I get what I came for. I will tear this island apart, brick by brick, if I have to. I knew you all were pussies, trying to back out now because they’re strong!? You have to do what I paid you to do.”
