CHAPTER HUNDRED-SIXTYSIX-2
I was tipsy, my body loose and relaxed, the worries of the past few weeks melting away in a haze of alcohol and euphoria. This was what I needed. This was what we all needed. A night of pure, unadulterated fun. A night to forget the darkness, if only for a little while.
The girls arranged a strip show for me, where hot men with oiled up bodies danced and gyrated to the music. They would dance for me while I sat on a chair in the middle of the room, the other girls
cheering and catcalling.
I was laughing, my face flushed with champagne and embarrassment, when the last dancer took
the stage. He was tall, with dark, brooding eyes and a body that was a work of art, all lean muscle
and smooth skin. He moved with a grace that was almost hypnotic, his hips swaying to the beat, a
smirk playing on his lips.
He made his way over to me, his eyes locked on mine, a smoldering intensity in their depths. He
knelt in front of me, his hands on my thighs, but not going too far. He focused more on the
dancing, and not the touching, and I was grateful for it. It was a show, and he was a performer, and
I was just a part of the audience.
But then he whispered something in my ear, his breath hot against my skin. “Be careful,” he said, his
voice a low, urgent murmur. “She knows. She’s watching.”
My blood ran cold. The music faded, the laughter and chatter of my friends a distant hum. All I could hear was the pounding of my own heart, the frantic thumping of a trapped bird against my
ribs.
I pulled away, my eyes wide with alarm. He was already gone, melting back into the crowd, leaving me with a chilling sense of dread and a million questions.
What did he mean? Who was ‘she’? Is it Yasmine? And what is she looking at?
I scanned the room, my gaze darting from face to face, searching for any sign of her, any hint of danger. But the crowd was a blur of motion and color, a sea of strangers.
“Are you okay?” Valerie asked, her brow furrowed with concern. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
“I’m fine,” I said, forcing a smile that didn’t reach my eyes. “Just a little too much champagne.”
But I wasn’t fine. I was far from it. The stripper’s words echoed in my mind, a warning bell that wouldn’t stop ringing. He wasn’t just a dancer. He was a messenger. And he was trying to tell me
something.
I couldn’t tell anyone. We were all having a good night, I didn’t want to ruin my party, so I kept it to myself and tried to enjoy the rest of the night, but the fun had been spoiled. The stripper’s words had cast a dark and creeping fear that I couldn’t shake.

As the night drew to a close, and the girls started to leave, a wave of exhaustion washed over me. I was tired, my head aching, my body aching. All I wanted was to go home, to crawl into bed with Dominic, and forget this night ever happened.
It was my big day tomorrow, and I was finally going to get married to the love of my life. I didn’t want any drama, not tonight.
I said my goodbyes, my mind a million miles away. saw Dominic’s car pull up, and I walked towards it, my heels clicking on the pavement. I opened the door and slid into the passenger seat, the leather cool against my skin.
“Hey,” I said, my voice soft. “Did you have a good night?”
He didn’t answer. He just stared straight ahead, his hands gripping the steering wheel, his knuckles
