After Rejection Divorced Luna Becomes A Famous Doctor (Hailey and Dominic) novel Chapter 248

CHAPTER HUNDRED-EIGHTYEIGHT-2

“That’s enough.” One of the guards, a tall, imposing man with a close cropped haircut, stepped forward, his hand resting on the hilt of the dagger at his waist. “You will not speak to the Luna like that. You will not spread lies about our Luna. You will show her the respect she deserves.”

“Or what?” the young woman taunted, her eyes flashing with defiance. “Are you going to arrest us? Are you going to throw us in the cells? Just like you did to Tricia?”

“Tricia was imprisoned for disobeying a direct order from the Alpha,” the guard said, his tone firm and

unwavering. “And for spreading false rumors about the Luna. Just like you’re doing now. I suggest you walk away. Now.”

The young woman and the burly man exchanged a look, a silent communication passing between them. They knew they were beaten, for now. But they weren’t giving up.

“This isn’t over,” the young woman said, her voice a low, venomous hiss. “We’ll be back. And we won’t be

alone.”

“Leave. Now.” the guard said, his hand tightening on the hilt of his dagger.

They turned and walked away, their backs straight and proud, their heads held high.

I watched them go, my heart pounding in my chest. My wolf was snarling, a primal, protective rage coursing through my veins. I wanted to shift, to tear them apart, to make them pay for their insolence.

“Mommy, are you okay?” Liam asked, his little face a mask of concern. He had been quiet throughout the exchange, his eyes wide with a mixture of fear and confusion.

I knelt down in front of him, forcing a smile that I didn’t feel. “I’m fine, sweetie. They’re just… not very nice

people. They don’t know what they’re talking about.”

“Are they going to hurt you?” he asked, his voice trembling slightly.

“No, sweetie,” I said, my heart aching for him. “They’re not going to hurt me. Or you. Or Daddy. We’re safe. I promise.See! Look at the water! We can go and play with the boat.”

I pointed at the small pond, trying to distract him. The last thing I wanted was for him to be more scared than he already was.

“Yay!” he said, a small smile tugging at his lips.

“Come on,” I said, taking his hand. “Let’s go.”

And just like that, he has forgotten about the altercation. He let me lead him away, the guards close

behind us.

The park was a small, secluded oasis, a hidden gem in the middle of the pack’s territory. The pond was a circle of emerald green, surrounded by weeping willows and lush green grass A small, wooden bridge

“Look, Mommy!” Liam said, pointing at a family of ducks that were swimming lazily across the pond. “Can

we feed them?”

“We don’t have any bread, sweetie,” I said, a pang of guilt hitting me. I had been so focused on my own misery that I hadn’t even thought to bring any snacks.

“That’s okay,” he said, already losing interest in the ducks. “Can we play with the boat now?”

“Sure,” I said, relieved. “Let’s find a good spot.”

We found a patch of grass near the water’s edge, and Liam pulled a small, brightly colored boat out of his pocket. It was a simple, plastic toy, but to him, it was the most magnificent ship in the world. He placed it gently on the water, watching with rapt attention as it bobbed and swayed.
