After Rejection Divorced Luna Becomes A Famous Doctor (Hailey and Dominic) novel Chapter 32

CHAPTER THIRTYTWO

HAILEY

It had been two weeks since I had seen Dominic.

Two.

Long.

Weeks.

But, the anxiety was still there.

Always.

Even while I was treating my patients, the thought of him showing up at the hospital would not leave me.

The fear of him finding out about Liam, or him coming back into my life was eating me away.

I had to put an end to this.

Because, it was making me miserable.

And, a mother couldn’t be miserable. She had to be strong, and a good example for her son.

I had to be strong, for Liam.

So, I did what I had to do.

I had a few hours break from work, so I decided to take Richard up on that lunch offer.

I hadn’t spoken to him or Dominic since that day, and now, I was starting to regret treating him terribly.

Richard was a good guy, and he didn’t deserve my anger and frustration. It was just lunch, right?

We walked out of the hospital together, and went to his car. Like a gentleman, he opened the door for me, and smiled as I sat down.

So, where are we going?I asked.

Somewhere close. We only have a one hour break.”

Okay. Do you come here often?

Yeah. I usually pick up some food and eat it in the car. It’s faster that way.

Oh.

Don’t worry, Hailey. This time will be special. He winked, and started the engine.

I chuckled, and relaxed into the seat.

It was nice being around Richard. But, I just hoped this was just a friendly gesture and no feelings

involved. I didn’t see him in that light, and wouldn’t want to lead him on.

After ten minutes of driving, he stopped the car and parked in the empty parking lot of a small cozy cafe.

Let’s go. They have the best sandwiches, and the most delicious hot chocolate.

Sounds like heaven.

He chuckled, and opened the door for me. Such a gentleman.

It’s all part of the service, Dr. Anderson. You better appreciate it.

Trust me, I do.

He smiled, and we both entered the cafe. Oh, my god. This place is gorgeous. And the smell. Wow.

I know, right? It’s been one of my favorites ever since I was a kid.

Really?

“Yep. My mom used to bring me here a lot.

That’s sweet. Does she live in this town?

Yeah, but she’s not around anymore. She died five years ago.

Oh, I’m so sorry, Richard. That’s terrible.

Don’t worry, Hailey. The past is in the past. There’s nothing to do but move on. Besides, life is beautiful and full of surprises.

True.

Let’s order, and have our lunch. What would you like?

Surprise me.

He smiled, and ordered two plates of sandwiches and hot chocolates. Then, we found a small table near the corner and sat down and the food was so good.

This is great. Thanks for inviting me.”

You’re welcome. It’s nice spending some time with you, Hailey. We should do it more often.

Hmm.” What did he mean by that?

I didn’t mean it like that.He said, nervously. It’s just a friendly lunch, if that’s what you’re worried about.I’m not worried. Justit’s nice spending time with someone who doesn’t know about the past. You know, my history and everything. It’s just a breath of fresh air, and it’s nice. You’re really sweet, Richard.

Well, thank you.

We have less than twenty minutes till lunch is over. We better get back to the hospital.

Yeah, sure. I’ll go pay the bill so we can head out.

Thanks.

We both cleaned up, and left the cafe.

Richard opened the door for me, and I stepped into the car.

Then, we drove back to the hospital in silence.

A few minutes later, he pulled up in the parking lot, and got out.

He was about to open the door for me, when I saw a black SUV parked not far from us.

And, Dominic was leaning against the car.

Fuck.

My heart began to race as I looked at him, and his expression was cold and emotionless.

What the hell was he doing here?

Why did he look soangry?

Hey, Hailey. Is everything okay?Richard asked, breaking my gaze away from the alpha.

H-… yeah. Everything’s fine.

Are you sure? You don’t seem well.

Yeah. It’s just the heat. You know, it’s so hot.

Oh. Yeah. Well, let’s go inside then.”

Yeah.

We were walking towards the entrance, and I felt Dominic’s eyes on me the whole time. As if they were

burning a hole through my soul.

But, I didn’t dare look at him.

I didn’t want to.

So, I continued to walk towards the door.

Thankfully, he didn’t do or say anything.

I had to prepare to perform surgery in ten minutes, so I couldn’t afford to be distracted by him.

My patient needed me.

As a doctor, I was required to give my full attention to the patient and the procedure.

It was a simple operation, and I’ve done it many times before.

Hailey, you ready?Valerie said, and I snapped out of my thoughts.
