After Rejection Divorced Luna Becomes A Famous Doctor (Hailey and Dominic) novel Chapter 39

CHAPTER THIRTYNINE1

HAILEY

Monday came by faster than I had expected, and it was time to go back to work. I dropped off Liam at school, and we drove to the hospital. Immediately I walked into the hospital, I was bombarded with tons of surgeries, patients and paperwork.

I didn’t have time to even breathe, and had no idea how I was still standing on my feet.

My shift was a busy one, and the whole day was just flying by. This was the price I have to pay for being known as the best doctor around the world.

There were times when I hated it, and there were times when I loved it. The best feeling was always the adrenaline rush I felt when I was in the operating room, and was fixing someone.

That was my passion, and the moment I felt the most alive. My job was what kept me sane, and was the only thing that I had after my son. Even if it could be exhausting, I’m glad I was making good money from what I love.

It’s officially being a month since I started working, and just the morning, the sum of eighty thousand dollars was transferred into my account.

My salary.

From earning 20k per month in the UK and thinking it was more than enough, to this. Maybe coming back here wasn’t so bad after all, but anywhere Dominic is, is not a good place.

I came out of a successfully performed surgery, already tired.

The Alpha has been shot! We need a doctor right now!A guy I recognized as one of Dominic’s guards ran into the hallway, carrying an unconscious body.

Over here!I called out, and he immediately came over.

What happened?I asked, while running towards the emergency room, the body was placed onto

a stretcher.

Dominic looked half dead with multiple bullet holes and stab wounds.

He was a fucking mess.

Bile rose in my throat as my heart froze in panic. In my three years of being a doctor, this was the worst condition I’ve ever seen a patient in.

We were attacked by the unknown men, and we have no idea what happened. But, they had

snipers, and the bullets were laced with poison and silver. He needs an antidote. Do whatever you

can, Dr. Anderson.

I nodded, and went to work, my mind racing with questions and fears.

What had Dominic gotten himself into, and why the hell was I about to tear up seeing him in this

state?

Why did it hurt to see him in so much pain, and why did my heart ache every time I thought about the possibility of him dying.

He wasn’t supposed to mean anything to me, but he did.

He was my boss, and my son’s father.

But, this was more.

Maybe because I was empathetic. Maybe because no matter what this man has done to me, I didn’t wish him death. Maybe because my hatred wasn’t as deep as I thought it was, wasn’t as deep as I wanted it to be.

Or maybe, I just needed to do whatever it was to save the Alpha. It was my duty, I didn’t need to put

no emotions into this.

Give me an IV drip, stat!I yelled out, as they wheeled him inside the operating room.

1 immediately got to work, and the moment the adrenaline rush kicked in, everything else faded.

All that mattered was Dominic.

Saving him, and bringing him back.

And, the rest of the world could go to hell. Valerie joined in with the other nurses, holding all the sterilized medical equipment, and getting ready for the surgery.

I went into the bathroom, took off my previous script and put on a new one, washed and sanitized my hands.

Ready, Dr. Anderson?Valerie asked, and I nodded.

Yes. Let’s do this.

Valerie nodded, and opened the door.

We walked in, and I saw him lying there.

Unconscious, pale, and looking like he was going to die at any moment.

This was the first time, seeing him weak, and not strong and in control. Seeing him vulnerable and

not the arrogant jerk I was used to.

CHAPTER THIRTYNINE2

He was a human, and he was weak.

He wasn’t the big bad Alpha who had the world wrapped around his finger. He was a normal person, who had his own problems, and could die.

He could be broken, and he could be saved.

And, I was the one who could save him. I took a deep breath, and the nurse put the oxygen mask

over his mouth.

I’m going to take a look at the bullet wounds.

There were so many. I took the sterilized scissors, and cut open his shirt.

It was bad.

The moment I cut his shirt, his wounds bled, and the scent of his blood filled the room.

There were so many scars, and old wounds.

How many times had he been attacked? How many times had he been in danger? How many times had he had his life on the line, and almost died.

I didn’t know.

But, that wasn’t what was surprising me..

He was bleeding, and his wounds weren’t closing. A werewolf should have been healed by now, and the poison and silver was probably affecting his ability to heal.

I had seen so many werewolves before, and their healing was faster than normal humans.

We need an antidote for the poison and silver.” I told the nurse.

His heartbeat was so slow, and I could tell it was barely there.

It was finally time to take out the bullets, they were literally scattered all over his chest and arm.

I had to do it carefully, and I had to make sure there were no bullet fragments left in the wounds. Give me a clamp.I said, as a nurse handed it to me.

Taking a deep breath, I began the procedure, taking out the bullets and removing the bullet fragments.

The poison was slowing down his ability to heal, and the silver was killing him. If I didn’t take it out soon, he would be dead within the hour.

His blood was covering the table, and was dripping everywhere.

Dr. Anderson, the antidote.

Right.

I had been too absorbed in taking out the bullet, that I had almost forgotten the most important thing.

Val, give me the syringe.

She handed me the sterilized needle, and I quickly injected him with the antidote.

It was the only thing that could work.

If it didn’t, then the poison would have spread through his entire body and he would die.

His vitals are stabilizing.A nurse said, and I could breathe again.

Thank God.

He’s not healing.I mumbled.

The poison and silver is making it harder for his wounds to heal, but with the antidote, the poison will eventually wear off. His body is just too exhausted.

We have to stitch up his wounds and bandage him up. Give him some antibiotics, and take him to the ICU. I don’t want him to be alone, so I’ll monitor his progress from there. Someone will have to notify his family.

They all nodded and left the room. I had removed a total of twenty four bullets from his chest and arms, and it was a miracle he was even alive.

I could have lost him. And, for the first time, I could feel a sense of fear creep into me.

A fear that was unfamiliar, and strange. Maybe because he was my son’s father. Maybe because

even if I hated him and wanted nothing to do with him, I didn’t want to live with the knowledge that

my son was fatherless and have to break that news to him in the future.

Yes, that was it.

The nurses came back as I finished stitching up his wounds, wrapped them with gauze and

bandages, and then, helped him move to a bed.

Taking off my gloves, I threw them away, and walked over to the sink.

Washing my hands, and sanitizing them, I turned around to see Giovanni running inside the room, his eyes wild, and hair messed up.

He looked like he had been sleeping and got dragged out of his house.

How is he? Is he alive? Is he going to be okay?He asked.

Calm down. Your brother will be fine. The poison is slowly wearing off, and the antidote will help. He’s stable for now, and he should wake up soon.

CHAPTER THIRTYNINE3

Giovanni let out a deep breath, and nodded. Thank you, Hailey. How bad was it? I got here as soon as I heard.

He was a mess. Multiple stab and gunshot wounds. I had to take out twenty four bullets, and give him an antidote. The poison was killing him, and the silver was slowly killing his ability to heal, If he hadn’t gotten here, he would have died. The poison was spreading.

Whoever did this are going to fucking pay. No one attacks my brother and lives. They are dead. Every single one of them.

I nodded, and walked towards the bed, placing a hand on his forehead.
