CHAPTER SIXTY–SIX

HAILEY

Dominic started walking up the stairs to Liam’s room and even in my tired state, I shamelessly ogled his ass.

He was wearing a pair of tight jeans, which was making his butt look delicious, and it was a perfect view. His tattoos were something that had always fascinated me.

Growing up, my parents weren’t fond of tattoos, and they thought that having tattoos was a bad thing. But, marrying a man that was fully tatted and not just any tattoos, but beautiful intricate ones had changed my perception.

I found myself tracing them sometimes, and couldn’t get enough of them. I couldn’t stop staring, and even if I was pissed off at him, I still couldn’t keep my eyes away.

Back when we were still together, I could remember tracing them slowly as he slept, feeling safe and secure with him. They were so beautiful, and I couldn’t stop staring at them.

His chest had a tattoo of a wolf, and it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. Dominic had so many tattoos, that the moment he took off his clothes, you’d get a little shock. But, he had such a beautiful body, and I couldn’t imagine him without the tattoos.

When he was finally done putting Liam to bed, he walked out, and closed the door.

As soon as he stepped close to me, I stepped back, putting some distance between us. I had almost forgotten just how pissed off I was when I found out what he did to Richard.

He looked confused, and stepped closer to me. Before I could back away again, he grabbed my waist, holding me flush against his chest. “I thought I already apologized, hm? Why are you being so cold to me? You’re so difficult, Hailey. Won’t you ask about my day with our son?” His voice was so soft and sensual, and even though I was trying my best to keep him at arm’s length, I couldn’t stop myself from melting.

I cleared my throat. “I’m sure your day was great. Liam looks like he had lots of fun. And please, next time, try to pick up whenever I call you. Because, you didn’t. So, I had no idea what was going on. If you had answered my call, then I wouldn’t have been worried sick, and wouldn’t have been wondering where you two were.”

“Ah, so you were worried, huh?”

“Stop it, Dominic. That’s not what I meant.”

“But, it’s the truth, isn’t it?”

“Why did you threaten Richard to stop talking to me?” I butted in, when I saw that he was trying to lean in too close to my face.

He pulled away, and his eyes turned cold. He arrogantly walked into my kitchen, and opened the refrigerator.

“Do you have beer?”

“Answer my fucking question, Dom.”

“Dom… I love it when you call me that. It makes me remember the days when your toes would curl so hard and you would dig you pointy nails into my back as you screamed my name.”

I was getting frustrated.

Why did he have to be so arrogant and cocky?

“Stop avoiding the topic. Why did you threaten Richard? Was it not enough that you embarrassed him? Now, you have to keep interfering with everything, and trying to control things? Who the fuck do you think you are?”

“Did he tell you all this? I see he doesn’t value his life and his job after all.” He said casually, taking a half opened whiskey bottle and pouring himself a drink.

“You wouldn’t dare.” I gritted out, stepping closer to him. “You think just because you’re the Alpha, you can do whatever the hell you want? This isn’t the olden days, Dominic. You can’t just order people around, and make them obey. I’m not going to sit here and watch as you ruin everyone’s lives, and manipulate everyone. Do you honestly think I’m just going to sit here and take it?”

He downed the drink, and poured himself another one. “Yes. I don’t think you will, I know you will. Because, Hailey, you have no other choice. So, you’re going to sit down and shut up, or else…”

“Or else, what?”

“Or else, I’ll be forced to do something we will both regret.”

“And what exactly will you do? You have no right to interfere with my life, and who I choose to spend time with! Richard is just a nice guy who I enjoy spending time with, and there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s not my fault that you don’t understand what genuine friendship is, and that you can’t keep your d**k in your pants!”

He slammed the glass down, and it broke.

My heart jumped, and he started walking towards me.

“I don’t know how many times I have to warn you, Hailey. Stop testing me, and stop pushing me. I don’t know what the hell you think you’re doing, and I don’t understand why the hell you have this fascination and obsession with pissing me off, and challenging me. But, Hailey, if you don’t stop now, then the consequences will be on you.”
