I buried my face in his chest, and cried. My tears soaked his shirt, and I felt his hand on the back of my head. His fingers were tangled in my hair, and he was holding me close.

“They would have loved their grandson, and they would have spoiled him rotten. They would have done everything to make him happy. Liam reminds me so much of my father. He is smart, funny, caring, and a good man. They would have hit it off instantly, and would have been thick as thieves. My mother would have loved him too. She was the best mom, and I can still hear her voice, smell her perfume, and feel her touch. She was a force to be reckoned with, and would have made sure that he grew up with love, affection, and a lot of fun. They would have made the perfect grandparents, and Liam would have had an amazing childhood. One that I didn’t have, and would have cherished every single moment. He would have had two loving, caring, supportive, and amazing grandparents, and the life that he deserves. If they were still alive, that is. But, I guess it was meant to be this way. This is the life that Liam was meant to have. A happy childhood with parents who love him. That’s the kind of life that every kid deserves, and my parents would have given him that.”
