“Wait, he’s not a security guard?” Nestor looked at Lawrence, confusion and curiosity all over his face. “So what does he actually do?”
Lawrence grinned. “That time Catherine went to the tech institute for a conference, my dad just wanted to see her. He pretended to be a guard so he could get close to her.” His voice softened, a bit of pride sneaking in. “Before he retired, my dad worked in the military.”
“The military?” Nestor blinked, caught completely off guard. He knew Lawrence had served and started his own company after, but he’d never really asked about his family. Right now, he just felt totally out of his depth.
“Yeah,” Lawrence nodded, keeping his tone steady but with a hint of pride. “My dad’s a General.”
“A General?” Nestor almost choked, eyes going wide. He’d spent decades in the business world, met all kinds of big shots and important people, but a General? That was next level. That was someone who could make things happen with just a word.
He shot a look at Catherine, silently asking if this could possibly be true.
Catherine couldn’t hold back a laugh. She nodded, her hand covering her mouth. “Dad, you heard right. It’s true.”
For a second, Nestor looked like he might leap straight out of bed. Finding out Lawrence was the founder of Nexus Dynamics had been shocking enough, but Patrick being a General? He never saw that coming.
“Dad, take it easy,” Catherine said quickly, moving closer to calm him down.
Lawrence gave a helpless smile. “Are you alright, Dad?”
Nestor took a shaky breath and tried to pull himself together. But then a wave of embarrassment hit him. He remembered all the times he’d looked down on Lawrence’s background, convinced he wasn’t good enough for Catherine. He’d even thought his daughter was marrying beneath her.
Nestor thought it over seriously, and for the first time in a while, he felt like this was the right thing to do. His heart really did need proper care.
“Alright, I’ll listen to you. I’ll go to Harrisburg for treatment,” he agreed. “And I don’t want Alice coming anywhere near me. Once I’m better and back, I’ll deal with her myself.”
Catherine nodded, relieved. She and Lawrence had a lawsuit to handle, and knowing her dad would be safe in Harrisburg took a huge weight off her shoulders.
Lawrence got busy making arrangements, calling everyone he needed to. Dr. Neely was more than happy to sign the transfer papers, smiling as he stood by Nestor’s bed. “Nestor, Lawrence really came through for you. It’s not easy to get a spot at The Cabinda Military Medical University. Plus, your new doctor is the top expert in the field.”
Pride and relief sparkled in Nestor’s eyes. “He really is something. Lawrence is incredible.”

I’m glad I hung in there for all 368 chapters. This was a really good story!...
They are on a base. Alice and Shirley need to be approved and sponsored to enter. What are they worried for? Can random people just come on base?...
I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
Didn’t Alice bring food? She left it. I would definitely have it tested....
