Alice rushed home and threw a few things into a bag, her hands shaking with nerves. Garnett pulled up just as she finished, and they headed straight for the airport.
“What’s so important that Shirley has to see Nestor right now?” Garnett asked, trying to sound casual but failing to hide the jealousy in his voice. It stung to see his daughter run to someone else for help. Before, he could ignore it, but now it just hurt.
“Shirley needs Nestor’s help with something you can’t fix,” Alice said, not hiding her frustration. The resentment in her tone made it clear she was blaming Garnett for not being able to do more.
Garnett wanted to argue, but thinking about Nestor’s position, he just swallowed his pride and kept quiet. Compared to Nestor, he really didn’t have much to offer.
At the airport entrance, Shirley stood waiting, checking her phone every few seconds. A black sedan stopped in front of her. Her mom stepped out from the passenger seat, and then, from the driver’s side, a man with a tired, defeated look on his face got out too.
Shirley’s breath caught in her throat. That was her biological father. The same useless man she’d worked so hard to distance herself from.
Alice glanced nervously at Shirley, watching her reaction. “Shirley, this is—”
Ever since she’d joined the Blair family, Shirley had done everything she could to erase her humble past. It had taken ten years to shed those old labels, and she wasn’t about to let her father slap them back on now.
Shirley’s eyes went cold. “Who he is doesn’t matter to me.”
Garnett fidgeted awkwardly, then tried to smile. “Shirley, it’s so good to finally see you. You’ve grown into such a beautiful woman. I came in a rush and didn’t bring a gift…”
Shirley looked him over, unimpressed. There was nothing he could give her that she would want. The only father figure she needed now was Nestor.
“I don’t want anything from you. Just don’t show up in front of me again.” She turned to Alice. “Let’s go. We’ll miss our flight.”
Garnett trailed after them, still carrying their bags all the way to security before finally letting them go, watching them disappear into the crowd.
What none of them realized was that a camera had been following their every move, quietly recording the whole scene from a distance.
Once they were on the plane, Alice glanced at Shirley, still confused. “Shirley, what’s so urgent that you have to see your father?”
Just then, Lawrence’s phone vibrated. He checked the screen and answered. “Hello?”
“Lawrence, I just sent you the latest video. Shirley and her mom are in Harrisburg. Looks like they’re here to see Nestor.”
“Thanks. I appreciate it.” Lawrence hung up, watched the video, and waited until his parents stepped outside for a walk. He sat down beside Nestor.
“Dad, there’s something you should know. Alice and Shirley are in Harrisburg.”
A flash of anger and disgust crossed Nestor’s face. “I never want to see those two again. Not as long as I live.”
One had tried to hurt his wife, and the other, his twisted adopted daughter, had almost killed his own child. If Nestor had the power, he would never let them roam free for another day.
Lawrence handed him the phone. “Dad, you need to see this.”

I’m glad I hung in there for all 368 chapters. This was a really good story!...
They are on a base. Alice and Shirley need to be approved and sponsored to enter. What are they worried for? Can random people just come on base?...
I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
Didn’t Alice bring food? She left it. I would definitely have it tested....
