NOAH
No one talks about the guilt after an abortion. I never wanted a baby, but when those tests turned out positive, I wasn’t going to get an abortion. We were going to work things out somehow, but when I learned he knocked me up for Danielle? I couldn’t take that. My child was made for someone else, and regardless of what Rowan said, I wouldn’t let my child be born in that mess. We would have been going back and forth over my child, and that was in no way fair.
Danielle coming over to try and convince me she wanted us to try this bond again felt like salt im my wounds. I had to sit there, still losing my child, and I couldn't do anything about it. I couldn't be mad at her either. My decision was made, and I knew I was sticking to it. And today, two days later, I’m at the airport, waiting to board my plane.
I called my brother to let him know I was going back home to stay after all these years, and I told him about Rowan, too, because he wasn't buying that I simply missed them all. I've missed them for years, and not once did I stay home longer than three days. It’s safe to say that Calix now hates Rowan, and my brother holds a grudge harder than I do.
I’m drinking my painkillers when I see Rowan jogging aimlessly, looking every bit lost as he stares at the people around. He freezes when his eyes find me. “Noah,” he lowly whispers, but I hear it still.
“What are you doing here?” I snap when he finally walks up to me.
He is sweating, out of breath, like he walked or ran here. “I couldn't let you go without seeing you.”
“Did Danielle not fill you in?” I frown, “You don’t have to show concern for me. I already went to the abortion clinic, and I took my prescription religiously.” I tell him, averting eye contact.
“It's okay,” he says, his tone sympathetic. It makes me meet his gaze again. He is looking at me like he feels sorry for me. “I don’t care about that, that was your choice to make.”
“Stop,” I swallow, taking a step back. I hate the way he looks at me like he understands, the way I want to hug him right now, despite what he and his mate put me through.
“Are you okay?” He softly asks, concern evident in his eyes.
“Yeah,” I nod. “Why wouldn’t I be?” I swallow. “I mean, this is not my first heartbreak,” I sigh, trying to seem bored and unaffected. “You are nothing special.”
“Noah.”
The lie burns in my throat, of course, he is fucking special to me, but—
“Oh, look,” I nervously laugh, catching sight of Danielle rushing in the same way he did. “She’s looking for you,” I tell him, gesturing in her direction with my mint coffee.
“We came together.” He tells me, barely turning to look at her.
“What?” I pause. They both came here? I thought she gave up after I told her I didn’t hold any bad blood towards her when she visited my house. “What’s going on with you two?”
