“You should double-check,” Maddox tells him. “You’re her supervisor, and taking the blame is part of the job. What you just did to the lady is unethical.”
“I sincerely apologise too. It was my fault for not checking, she was due for another evaluation this week and I—.”
“Hmm,” I nod, uninterested in the rest. “Process the papers.”
“Alpha Kingston, I can’t.” His eyes widen, his voice lower now, scared almost. “Much less now.”
“What is that supposed to mean?” I bark. What does he mean by much less now? He needs to process those papers and clear her, especially now. I will take care of the rest. I’ve prepared for it.
“Luna Aeliana is not in the right state of mind, she can’t take care of herself, let alone a child. Her recent actions lead me to believe she’s an even bigger danger to herself than I thought.” He says, looking down at his hand. I mirror his gaze, assessing the fresh bite marks on his hand.
“She did that?” Maddox frowns.
“Yes,” he sighs, putting his hand away again. The bite looks bad, almost like she was trying to tear his hand off. “I had gone to check on her because her night nurse was taking care of another patient who was having an attack, and she jumped at me.”
“Why did she attack you?” My gaze lifts. “I mean, she has never attacked, Evelyn.”
“Evelyn fed her delusion, that’s why.”
“So what happens now? Do you have to change her treatment plan?”
“Actually…” he trails off, his eyes shifting between Maddox and me. “You might not like what I’m about to say, but I advise that you terminate.”
Maddox steps between us before I can react, pushing me back. “The fuck did you just say?” I growl.
“It’s in her best interest, Alpha.” He takes a few steps back. “He cannot take care of another person. This pregnancy will stress her out and the mental weight of it…” he pauses, turning to Maddox. “Do-Doctor, you know how big a change pregnancy is. Help him understand that in cases like these, patients could harm more than just themselves.”
“Aeliana would never harm anyone!”
“She harmed her sister, Alpha.”
“That was an accident,” I grit through my teeth. “She would never hurt a fly, so for you to even suggest that she could hurt her child?” I swallow. “Ours? You must be out of your mind, James.” I growl, unconsciously stalking him.
“Kingston.” Maddox pulls me back again.
