Chapter 141
Chapter 141
Sharon clung to Elouise’s shoulders tightly, her whole body trembling as if it might break.
Jonathan noticed her losing it and rushed over. “Mom, calm down.”
Sharon shook her head, her face soaked with tears. “How am I supposed to stay calmn?”
It took her so long to realize she had been lied to all along.
Jonathan’s gaze turned icy as he glanced back at Sierra, who stood there stone-faced, showing not a hint of emotion.
Sharon’s gut-wrenching questions didn’t get a reaction out of Sierra at all.
Jonathan felt his heart grow heavier by the second. He was seething with anger, thinking of the evidence he had gathered. “David, Elouise, what the hell is going on here?”
Elouise never expected to run into the Sterlings here. When Sharon was grilling her earlier, she honestly felt like she might just kill her right then and there.
Frozen under the murderous gazes of Jonathan and Sharon, Elouise trembled. “Mrs. Sterling, I know you don’t trust me, but you should trust Nat. Kids get punished sometimes. It happens to everyone.”
Elouise even tried to shift the blame onto Sierra. “Sierra could be very stubborn as a kid. Sometimes her dad would just say a few things, and she’d hold onto them for years.”
The flimsy excuse didn’t fool Sharon for a second. She knew very well that Sierra would never hold grudges unless it was
extreme.
Sharon snapped, “I saw it all. You two went straight for Sierra, ready to hit her. I don’t believe a single word from you.
“I’ll investigate this myself, and if I find out you hurt Sierra on purpose, I swear I’ll make you pay.”
Elouise’s face turned ghostly pale as she stammered, “This is all just a misunderstanding.”
“If it is, then you shouldn’t be scared of an investigation,” Sharon said coldly, her glare fixed on them. However, inside, anxiety gnawed at her.
She turned to Sierra with a gentle, loving look. “Sierra, I promise I’ll bring you justice.”
“Don’t bother,” Sierra replied, her voice icy.
She gave Sharon, who looked ready to break, an indifferent look. “What’s done is done. Digging into it won’t erase the pain I’ve already been through. As for David and Elouise, I’ll deal with them myself.”
Then Sierra pulled out her phone and called the cop who’d been helping her.
Elouise and David got nervous and yelled, “Sierra, what are you doing?”
Sierra shrugged. “You still don’t know, huh? The government has been cracking down hard on child tratticking lately, and what went down between us is right at the top of their list.”
She hadn’t even finished when Elouise and David panicked and bolted, shoving their way through the crowd.
Sierra couldn’t be bothered to chase after them.
The call connected, and the officer greeted her, “Ili, Ms. Sterling.”

Chapter 141
“Hi, Mr. Garner. Elouise and David are in Aville right now, but they just ran off,” Sierra reported.
50
Dalton, still working the case out in Genova County, immediately turned serious. “Understood. Just make sure you stay safe, Ms. Sterling. We’ll handle the rest.”
Sierra ended the call.
Sharon hesitated, her mind spinning with Sierra’s words. She tried to reach out to stop her, but Sierra dodged her hand.
After picking up the report, Sophie came back and saw a crowd gathered around Sierra. Her face fell, and she quickly pushed her way through.
Seeing Jonathan and Sharon, Sophie pulled Sierra behind her protectively, her gaze stern. “What are you doing here?”
Sharon looked utterly defeated, silent.
Sierra didn’t want to waste any more time. “Nothing. Sophie, let’s go.”
Sophie gave Jonathan and Sharon a sharp warning glance, nodded, and led Sierra away, keeping her close.
Meanwhile, Elouise and David rushed out of the hospital and ducked into an alley.
Elouise was totally freaked out. “What do we do now? Sierra is calling the cops on us.”
“What are you so scared of?” David snapped, quickly regaining his composure. “This stuff happened ages ago. Every parent disciplines their kid. What’s the big deal? Damn, I’ll make sure they pay.
“When the police come looking for us, we’ll just deny everything. The only thing I’m worried about is Nat-”
David and Elouise had switched the kids on purpose. Natalie was their only daughter, so they couldn’t bear for her to suffer even the slightest grievance.
David said, “Let’s not drag Nat into this right now. I’ve gotta get this illness sorted out, or who’s going to stand up for my girl later?”
The more David thought about it, the angrier he got. He took a deep, furious breath. “If I’d known, I would have just beaten
that bitch to death last time.”
Elouise felt utterly unsettled. “Don’t spread this around. Other than Nat, who else can we even turn to now? Your treatment is going to cost at least 300 thousand. Nat absolutely cannot get involved.”
David racked his brain, but for the moment, he just couldn’t come up with a solution.
Right across the rundown alley was the biggest mall in Amberty. The huge screen on the building was showing the news, then switched to ads and celebrity promos.
David’s eyes suddenly lit up as he looked at the giant screen. “We’ll use the press and online influencers. I swear I’ll crush that
bitch,”
