Chapter 147
Chapter 147
When Sierra woke up, it felt like someone had taken an axe to her skull, and she was so nauseous she thought she might throw up.
‘Did I get a concussion?’ Sierra couldn’t help but wonder, blinking as the thought crossed her mind.
“You’re awake?” David’s voice came from the passenger seat. Sierra’s vision slowly cleared, and she finally realized where she
was.
Sierra was in a beat-up van. The driver was a man in his forties whom she didn’t recognize. David was in the passenger seat, and Elouise was in the back, shooting her a dirty look.
The van rattled down the road, and stuff in the back kept banging around, making a racket. Sierra quickly grasped the mess she was in.
She frowned and tried to sit up, only to realize her hands and feet were bound. The ropes dug into her skin, sending stabs of pain through her wrists and ankles every time she moved.
Sierra closed her eyes for a moment, took a deep breath, and when she opened them again, her gaze landed on the rearview mirror. “David, you’re just digging yourself deeper. Is spending the rest of your life in prison really what you want?”
David didn’t get angry. Instead, he let out a cold laugh. “I’m already a dead man.”
He turned halfway in his seat, his yellow teeth bared as he glared at Sierra, his eyes burning with anger and hatred. “Sierra, if it weren’t for you, Nat wouldn’t be hated by the Sterlings. You ruined her.”
Nat had told him the Sterlings were offering shares in the family business to anyone who could catch Natalie.
Nat refused to go back home with them, so she was stuck hiding out in a twenty-bucks-a-day rental, living like a rat, too scared to show her face.
And it was all Sierra’s fault. If it weren’t for Sierra, none of this would’ve happened to Nat..
Sierra was honestly surprised. She’d always thought the Sterlings would just keep forgiving Natalie, no matter what.
“That spot was never supposed to be Natalie’s,” Sierra said. “Ever since we got switched, this was bound to happen.”
After a pause, Sierra added, “Kidnapping me now is just dragging Natalie into even more trouble.”
David’s voice was icy clear. “Nat’s only real problem is you. If you’re gone, she might finally get her chance to be the Sterlings’ daughter again.”
Those words almost made Sierra burst out laughing. ‘Does he really think the Sterlings would just take Natalie back as if nothing happened? They’re not fools, Sierra thought.
Sierra looked out the window at the scenery flashing by. This place was nothing like Amberty. She remembered getting back to her dorm around noon, but the sky was almost pitch black. Clearly, she’d been knocked out for hours.
Sierra’s gaze grew cold as she demanded, “David, where exactly are you taking me?”
“To where you belong, of course,” David replied.
“You stole Nat’s whole life, ruined her, and now she’s suffering. Someone’s gotta pay for that,” he spat.
At first, he thought about just killing Sierra and being done with it. But then he realized, making her wish she was dead were the best revenge he could get.

David kept his mouth shut about where they were going. Realizing she wouldn’t get any answers out of him, Sierra just leaned her head against the window, closed her eyes, and let herself zone out for a bit.
It was in Amberty, WonderWild Zoo. By the time they finished shooting the WonderWild Zoo promo, it was almost evening. After Ethan saw the director out, he found Timothy flopped down in the lounge like a boneless chicken.
Timothy stared up at the ceiling, looking totally wiped. Then he turned his head, looked at everyone, and said, dead serious, “Making money in showbiz is seriously tough. I don’t envy anyone in this business anymore.”
He thought, ‘God knows how long it took us to shoot just thirty minutes of footage. Eighteen freaking hours!
Timothy was so hungry that he looked like he could eat a horse. He couldn’t wait and blurted out, “Eeef, call Sierra and let’s go get some hot pot!”
“Alright,” Ethan said, not even blinking at Timothy’s nickname anymore. He pulled out his phone and dialed Sierra’s
number.
The phone just kept ringing, but Sierra never picked up.
Mark came out of the bathroom and noticed Sierra didn’t answer the call. “Let’s just head back to the dorm. Maybe she’s logged into the System for some training,” he said.
Mark’s suggestion wasn’t half bad, so everyone headed back to the dorm together
But when they got to Sierra’s dorm, they found her door wide open.
Sierra’s dorm was a small two-room place, and she used to leave the door open to let in some fresh air. At first, nobody thought much of it. They knocked and called out her name, but after a while, there was still no answer.
Timothy frowned, “You don’t think Sierra went out, do you?”
“No way,” Sophie shot back.
Just then, Sophie scanned the room and spotted a few dried bloodstains on the otherwise spotless wooden floor.
She crouched down, touched the stains, and her expression changed instantly. “Sierra’s in trouble.”
