Chapter 174

Chapter 174

After a long day and night of travel, they finally landed in Kenland, flying out from Amberty.

Primal Pines didn’t have its own airport, so their plane landed at Nairbily Airport.

It was a little over 60 miles from Nairbily Airport to Primal Pines Park, so Ethan rented a seven-seater van for the trip.

Since the cheetah was small and Sarah was gentle, they just let it sit in the car instead of putting it in a cage.

Sierra had already gotten her yellow fever vaccine before leaving their country. They grabbed a light meal at a local spot. before heading out to Primal Pines.

Primal Pines, just like Yellowstone in Silvania, was a semi-natural, semi-open park. Every year, all kinds of research teams and tourists came to drive around and watch the great animal migrations.

On the road, Sierra saw the signal was pretty good and remembered it’d been ages since she last went live for her fans back home. Ethan was driving up front, so she fired up her livestream.

As soon as she started streaming, thousands of viewers rushed in.

By then, Ethan had already talked to the staff at Primal Pines, grabbed their gear, and they were ready to head inside the park.

On the livestream, viewers were treated to a landscape totally different from what they were used to back home.

Elephants as tall as trees ambled through the patchy grass where green and yellow met, each one followed by a bunch of tiny baby elephants.

Farther off, a gigantic snow-capped mountain dominated the horizon, its peak bathed in sunlight and shimmering with a surreal, pristine radiance.

Viewers: [Wow, this definitely isn’t in Hustralia, right?]

[That’s Mount Kilimanja! The one Trevor climbed a while ago. Is Sierra in Kenland now?]

[I’ve never seen an elephant before. I can’t believe they’re so huge!]

Sierra glanced at the comments and said, “Yep, we’re really here in Primal Pines, Kenland! The elephants here are massive. Honestly, they’re way bigger than the ones back in our country.

“And do you see that snowy mountain way out there? That’s Afrino’s highest peak, at least as far as anyone knows.

“It’s sitting right on the equator, but the snow on top never melts. Once we finish up our work, I’ll take you guys along for a livestreamed climb.”

Sierra was still talking when Sarah suddenly stuck her head out the car window.

On the livestream, everyone saw a fluffy head pop up, followed by that signature feline purr.

The viewers took a closer look and quickly realized it wasn’t a house cat.

Then, the animal turned its head, and Sierra zoomed out the camera. Soon, a slender cheetah with pale yellow fur and bold black spots along its back appeared on screen.

Sierra watched as Sarah curiously eyed the camera and said, “Sarah, I’m livestreaming. Want to say hi to the humans in the

chat?”

Chapter 174

Sarah meowed.

It said, “Hello!”

Sarah didn’t really understand what a livestream was, but back when it was at the zoo, its keeper always pointed a small device at it, muttering to herself as if she was chatting with invisible people.

It always seemed like that little box was packed with people.

Even though Sarah didn’t really understand why humans liked talking to themselves, it always listened to Sierra and dutifully greeted the camera.

Its purr was gentle and soft, and with its head leaning against the car window, people’d think it was just someone’s pet cat.

Viewers: [Wait, did Sierra really just let a cheetah ride in her car?]

[Isn’t that Sarah from Harborty Zoo? I saw it when I visited. It’s such a beautiful cheetah! We all called it the cool beauty.]

[But now it’s curled up on Sierra’s lap like a little kitten!]

[Sierra’s like that meme-pet someone and you instantly turn into a goofball.]\

[Did you guys forget that video where Sierra gave those male elephants a good whack? They froze up like little kids getting scolded.]

[I saw people online actually flaming Sierra, saying she was wrong for hitting the elephants.]

[Seriously, are these netizens nuts? The elephants were scared of Sierra herself, not her stick. I watched that video, too. Her hitting was like a mosquito bite, totally harmless. How is that even animal abuse?]

[Sierra abusing animals? Biggest joke ever!]

Sierra glanced at the chat, but she hadn’t bothered checking what people online were saying about her lately. She’d been completely wrapped up in getting the animals settled at the zoo.

Honestly, even if she saw those comments, she couldn’t be bothered to care.

With her phone in one hand and the other giving Sarah a good rub, Sierra watched as the cheetah let out a deep, contented purr. Then Sarah just sprawled out across everyone’s laps in the back, belly up and totally relaxed.

Everyone watching could only look, not touch, and the jealousy was real.

Sierra kept the stream going for a while, but out here in the wilds, the signal was pretty weak. The lag started kicking in, so after an hour, she called it quits and signed off.

With Sarah leading the way and describing its territory, they cruised through the park for more than an hour.

The savannah was dotted with all sorts of trees Sierra had never seen back in Hustralia.

Each tree was wild and unique, its branches reaching crazily skyward, giving off an intense, almost mesmerizing vibe.

Along the way, Sierra saw thousands of wildebeests crossing the river, and lions just chilling under the shade of acacia trees.

Every so often, a few research team jeeps or tourist vans rumbled past on the dusty, ochre-colored road.

But this was still just the edge of Primal Pines.

They kept driving for another hour, and the roads got emptier while the savannah got greener.

Tens of thousands of flamingos stood in the lakes, elephants lazily used their trunks to munch on grass, and spotted hyenas and lions raced across the plains, battling for their next meal.

Mark and Alex were snapping photos nonstop, trying to capture every moment.

“I’ve never seen so many elephants in my life,” Mark said, his voice full of awe as he stared at the massive herds gathered at the foot of the snow-capped mountain.

Maybe it was Mark’s voice that caught their attention, because one of the passing elephants gave the car a quick, curious look with its small eyes. Seeing the humans inside weren’t a threat, it quietly wandered off.

Ethan, driving up front, said, “Primal Pines is the biggest elephant hotspot on the planet, and Kenland’s wildlife is thriving. But honestly, things back home are getting better, too. Many places have way more animals now than ever before.”

Sierra looked out the window.

In her previous life, she’d squeezed in a trip to Kenland during a rare break from work, but only stayed for a day before heading back to Hustralia to keep working.

Her job was still just as hectic now, but this time, it felt different. Life was busy, but it was fulfilling-no more of that emptiness from before. It felt like she was finally grounded, truly living her life.

For the next two hours, the wildlife rescue team’s van left all the touristy spots behind and rolled right into the real wilds of Primal Pines.

Sarah leaned out the window, taking in all the wild scents drifting by as the van cruised along.

When it saw a familiar baobab tree, Sarah suddenly piped up, “Hey, Sierra, this is my turf!”

Right as it said that, Sierra and the crew spotted a cheetah a thousand feet away, bolting straight toward them like a shot with a cub dangling from its jaws.
