Chapter 179
Chapter 179
Sierra froze for a second when she heard that.
“Sarah, why didn’t you tell me?” Sierra frowned.
Sarah lowered its head and let out a soft, sad meow. “Sorry, I just thought I’d be a burden to you.”
Sierra understood how Sarah felt, and her anger melted away.
“Sarah, we’re here for you guys. That’s what we exist for,” Sierra said softly.

Sierra gently stroked Sarah’s head, and Sarah’s ears went into airplane mode as it let Sierra pet her. Hearing those words, Sarah gently nuzzled Sierra’s chin.
Bonnie snuggled up just like Sierra did and said, “Sarah thought you were too busy, so it didn’t know how to ask.”
Bonnie let out a long sigh. “After Sarah was taken, those people didn’t stop. They kept hunting us.
“While we were escaping, two cubs got trampled to death by a herd of wildebeests crossing the river, another was run over by a car, and one vanished after gunshots rang out.”
Bonnie snuggled up to Sierra and spoke affectionately, “Since you brought Sarah back, I know you’re one of the good ones. Could you maybe help us track down the last missing cub?”
“Sure,” Sierra replied without a second thought.
Sierra couldn’t help but feel guilty. She’d spent all this time with Sarah, never noticing anything was off, and she’d never even bothered to ask how many cubs Sarah had.
Maybe those three cheetahs would have perished naturally, but it should never have been because of humans.
As a fellow human, Sierra felt a bit embarrassed
She couldn’t sleep, so she grabbed a jacket liner from inside the tent and slipped it on. “When did the cub go missing?” she asked.
“Three days ago,” Bonnie said, counting the days. “The cub disappeared when the sun went down, and then the sun came up three times after that.”
Bonnie didn’t really understand time. It just remembered how many times the sun had risen and set. At night, its body would slowly grow tired, and it’d quietly wait for the sun to shine over Mount Kilimanja.
That sacred mountain was what guided them to survive.
Sierra mulled it over. “So, three days and four nights. The cub isn’t fast, so it couldn’t have gone far. Tomorrow, I’ll ask the animals nearby if anyone’s seen the little cheetah.”
Bonnie chimed in, “Sarah and I know the cub best. We can help out. Can you bring us along?”
“Okay,” the spotted hyena alpha female said.
Sierra spent over an hour sitting outside. Her phone had zero signal, but just in case something happened, she and her crew had brought a satellite phone.
The thing could go a whole month without needing a charge, but honestly, it was only good for making calls.
Sierra pulled out her phone and started playing a simple offline game.

Chapter 179
265 vouellers
The spotted hyenas and cheetahs had never seen a human play games before, so they all gathered around, curious to see what she was up to.
When Wesley got up in the middle of the night, he walked out and saw this scene. Sierra was sitting by the fire that had already gone out, a thin wisp of white smoke drifting up from the ashes.
It was obvious there was no warmth left.
Right next to Sierra, two agile cheetahs were crouched down. In front of them sat the spotted hyena alpha female, and all around Sierra, dozens of spotted hyenas were packed in close, all with their heads raised, watching Sierra play on her phone.
Wesley just stood there, speechless.
He thought, ‘This is even crazier than spotted hyenas and cheetahs just hanging out together!”
Wesley’s movement drew the animals’ attention, and Sierra glanced over. The moment Sierra looked his way, every single animal turned their gaze to Wesley, too, like a synchronized spotlight.
From Wesley’s point of view, it was like dozens of glowing eyes in the darkness were all locked onto him, staring him down.
“I… I’m just gonna go to the restroom,” Wesley stammered.
He was so nervous that his voice wobbled all over the place and even cracked at the end.
Sierra’s mouth twitched, and she nodded at him. “Go ahead.”
With that, Sierra went back to playing her game, and the spotted hyenas and cheetahs instantly snapped their gazes back to her and her phone.
The two cheetahs cozied up to Sierra and said, “Sierra, can we have a turn, too?”
The spotted hyena alpha female let out a mischievous cackle. “I wanna play, too!”
When Wesley came back from taking care of business, he saw Sierra showing the animals how to play a game on her phone.
Wesley just stood there, speechless.
‘God, either I’m dreaming or I’ve started sleepwalking!’ Wesley thought.
Wesley went back to his tent, but he was so freaked out that he just lay there wide awake until morning.
At five in the morning, the first rays of sunlight hit Mount Kilimanja. Thick white clouds clustered around the sacred mountain, while all kinds of birds perched on the branches.
Elephants led their calves, leaving deep tracks in the ground as they headed off into the distance.
Ethan and Mark packed up the tents and loaded all their gear back into the car.
Honestly, having Sierra around made everything so much easier qut here.
They could all get a full night’s sleep without worrying about wild animals bothering them, and even if outsiders showed up, the wildlife nearby would actually come over to warn them.
Being out in the wild always felt as easy and comfortable as being at home.
Ethan looked well-rested, but when he noticed the dark circles under Wesley’s eyes, he shot him a puzzled look. “Rough night?”
Wesley looked seriously put out.

Chapter 179
It was still pretty early, and Sierra was inside the tent getting her stuff together.
The spotted hyenas and cheetahs were all sprawled out outside, but the little cheetah kept popping up, digging a big hole right by the tent flap, and would sneak into the tent every now and then to see if Sierra was awake yet.
Wesley suddenly remembered that wild scene from last night.
He looked at Ethan and, all jittery, motioned for him to come over,
Ethan gave him a weird look, but bent down anyway.
“I swear, I thought I was sleepwalking last night!” Wesley blurted out.
Ethan just stared at him, totally baffled.
“I saw Sierra teaching the animals how to play a game, and…” Wesley stammered,
He thought, ‘How the heck are all these animals just hanging out together like this?
‘Isn’t the animal kingdom supposed to be all about survival of the fittest?’ he wondered, his mind spinning
Wesley felt like his whole worldview was crashing down.
He thought, ‘Even if Ethan’s mind isn’t as blown as mine, he should at least be shocked, right?
But Ethan didn’t even look surprised. He just shot Wesley a weird glance and said, “Animals aren’t stupid, you know. If they see something new, of course they’re gonna be curious.
“Playing a game? That’s nothing special. At our zoo, we run all kinds of enrichment classes. Bears can dance, parrots can sing, and for the stray cats and dogs we’ve taken in, we even put cartoons on for them.”
As he spoke, Ethan patted Wesley’s shoulder. “Bro, this is totally normal.”
