Chapter 222 The Influencer
Elliot’s cooking was top-notch, and Sierra didn’t hold back. She ate a lot.
Elliot kept grilling skewers and serving up his homemade snacks for Sierra, only stopping when she finally gestured that she was done.
Sierra let him know she was stuffed, picked up a wet wipe, and wiped her mouth.
Seeing this, Elliot drew his hand back, a little bummed.
Timothy couldn’t help but joke, “Mr. Paterson, that’s just unfair. You gave all the beef skewers to Sierra and left us with nothing but baked potatoes?”
Elliot didn’t even flinch. He blinked and said, “What’s wrong with baked potatoes? Besides, don’t you have some skewers over there, too?”
Then, Elliot handed all of Sierra’s leftover skewers to Timothy. He said, “Look at you, practically drooling. Here, take them all.”
Elliot just gave Timothy a helpless look, like he didn’t know what to do with him.
Timothy’s eyes widened. He never thought Elliot could be this brazen.
After they finished eating, Elliot cleared the table, and the rest of the group started a card game, passing the deck around and taking turns.
Just as the sun was dipping below the horizon and everyone was packing up to head back to the city, Sierra suddenly caught the sound of an agonized bleat.
All of them heard it, not just Sierra.
They exchanged glances, then, without saying a word, all moved toward the source together.
Right in front of the campsite was a clear little creek that flowed gently all year round. At its deepest, the water barely came up past their shins.
They all turned toward the source of the agonized bleating.
Not even 300 feet away, under a tree, a young man was hesitating, his eyes red-rimmed as he nervously tapped at the sheep’s head.
After a few weak taps, he looked at the woman in the flashy red dress, looking like he was about to cry. He said, “Can’t we just put it out of its misery? I just can’t bring myself to do it.”
The woman snapped, “Are you going to do it or not? I told you to knock the sheep out, and you’ve been at it forever, and it’s still fine. Can’t you hit it harder?”
Her face was cold and harsh as she continued, “Just get on with it. You’ve been hitting it for ages, and it still isn’t working. Just drown the sheep already.”
With that, she plopped down in a chair nearby, her face blank and cold as she directed her team to keep working.
But nobody moved.
The young man let go of the thick stick in his hand, hesitating, unable to force himself to go through with it.
Sierra and the others watched from afar, and Timothy drew in a sharp breath. He said, “Isn’t that influencer Celia?”
Sierra gave Timothy a sidelong glance and asked, “You know her?”
Timothy said, “Not really. My mom’s obsessed with her. Celia’s always live-streaming, selling these big, cheap bottles that actually do the job. She’s always filming out in the sticks, so my mom’s always forwarding me her videos.
“I never thought she’d be like this behind the scenes.”
Not everyone got that taking a life was one thing, but being cruel about it was a whole different story.
Celia just didn’t get it at all.
Their voices quickly caught Celia’s attention. Realizing she’d been caught doing something shady, she shot up from her
seat.
She flashed a big, fake smile and strutted over.
Celia had only heard half of what Timothy said, but it was obvious these folks knew who she was, probably fans. So she immediately dropped the snark and acted all sweet.
Celia grinned and asked, “You guys are my fans, right? Want an autograph? Or maybe you wanna stick around for some
roast lamb later?”

Sierra gave Celia a cold stare, then her eyes landed on the sheep sprawled on the ground, barely alive.
The sheep couldn’t even cry out anymore.
Sierra walked straight over and checked its legs, body, and neck, her expression darkening.
The sheep’s legs were broken, and as Sierra ran her fingers over its head, she could feel a dent.
The sheep wasn’t going to survive.
Sierra turned around and saw Celia, who was busy chatting away to Timothy all by herself, not even bothering to care that anyone had just seen what she’d done.
Maybe it was just that, with so many fans, people ended up spoiling influencers, always seeing them through rose-colored glasses.
Influencers started to lose touch with reality, and their staff were too scared to speak up.
That’s why influencers always thought they could do no wrong.
Sierra narrowed her eyes.
Just then, Sierra saw the sheep’s head slump to the ground, its voice barely a whisper. It whined, “Please. Just make it quick. It hurts so much.
“This morning I was still eating grass with Mom at the farm. How did things turn so awful so fast? Why are humans doing this to me?’ the sheep wondered, lost and scared.
“Did I do something wrong?”
The light in the sheep’s eyes faded, growing dim and gray, until finally, it was completely still.
The sheep was gone.
Poor thing. Right up to the end, it never even knew what it had done to deserve this.
Timothy caught the whole thing, too.
Hot-headed as ever, he snapped at Celia, who was still trying to chat him up, “Who the hell do you think you are? Who wants your autograph anyway? Is your signature supposed to be worth anything? I just can’t stand you, period!”
Celia’s face fell instantly. She said, “You’re just a hater.”
Timothy was at a loss dealing with this stubborn influencer.
Elliot chimed in, “You really think you’re some kind of big shot? How did someone like you even become an influencer? Did the platform just run out of people, or are your fans just clueless? Or did you just buy all your followers?
“You see someone, and the first thing you ask is if they’re a fan? Maybe you should get your brain checked, see if you’re actually crazy or something.”
Celia’s face turned as dark as the bottom of a pot.
Her face twisted in anger. She snapped, “So you guys came here just to make a scene, huh? Keep it up, and I’ll call the police. Don’t think I won’t!”
Sierra walked over and said, “Go ahead, call them.
“Let’s see how your fans react when they find out you torture animals.”
Celia blinked, dumbfounded. She asked, “What animal did I torture?”
Sophie snapped, “Seriously, still trying to deny it? You killed that sheep. We heard everything loud and clear.”
Alex added, “If you just wanted to make a video, you could’ve ended it quickly for the sheep. Why did you have to be so cruel?”
Farm animals really did have it tough. Sure, people ate meat, but there was a world of difference between slaughtering for food and straight-up cruelty.
Who would’ve thought someone who looked so innocent online would stoop this low just for some views?
Even the wildlife rescue team was baffled. They thought, ‘What the heck did Celia mean by ‘knock the sheep out’ anyway?
‘All it takes is one careless line, and a poor sheep ends up getting beaten to death right there.
‘Is this the kind of content she wants to put out there?
‘But Celia is well aware that there is no way she’ll ever let her audience see footage like this.
‘Honestly, she is a devil with zero limits. She’ll do anything for attention.
‘No matter how gorgeous she looks on the outside, inside she is pure poison, as wicked as a viper.’

Celia was totally thrown off by the wildlife rescue team’s accusations.
When she finally came to, she shot everyone a sarcastic glare.
She sneered, “Oh, please. You guys act all holier-than-thou, but don’t tell me you don’t eat meat. And this sheep? I paid for it myself, so I can do whatever I want. Who are you to tell me what to do?”
Celia thought, ‘Just my luck: running into a bunch of nutcases today.”
Celia shot them a look of pure contempt, then stormed off without another word.
She sat right back down in her chair and boldly snapped a photo of Sierra and the others, as if she owned the place.
She then pointed at the guy who’d just tried to kill the sheep and snapped, “Why are you just standing there? Don’t you want to get off early? Fire up the grill and skin that sheep already!”
