Chapter 282
Seriously, the cops had never seen someone who pissed off everyone this much.
The guy clutching his leg was the one whose hand got bitten off by a wolf.

His wound was bleeding again, his face was a mess of bruises, and his eyes were so swollen that they looked like eggs. He looked like he could pass away any second. It was kind of freaky
The cop yelped in surprise and stumbled back a few steps.
As soon as the cops showed up, the crowd that had been lining up to throw punches quickly backed away. Some still had blood on their hands and, not wanting to get busted, quietly hid them behind their backs.
Some people just took off running.
With over a hundred people at the scene, as long as they ran fast enough, there was no way the security cameras could catch them all.
In an instant, half the onlookers had vanished.
The traffickers who’d been getting beaten finally got a breather.
They were sprawled on the ground, crawling like mutants, struggling to drag themselves forward.
Every time the cops stepped back, the traffickers would lurch forward, just like zombies in a doomsday flick, like they were out to eat someone alive.
Finally, after all their weapons were gone, the van driver who’d come down first finally cried out, “Officer, please help me!”
The
cop
blurted out, “Jesus, stay away from me!”
This guy’s hand bled again. With his messy image, he looked terrifying.
If it weren’t for his job, the cop would’ve loved to kick him. Instead, he just rolled his eyes at this human trafficker.
“Who called the police just now?” the cop asked.
“It was me,” Sierra said, stepping forward.
The cop was a fresh face at the local station, and Sierra didn’t know him. She skipped over the whole wolf thing and came up with a random story to cover things up for now.
Luckily, the cop was so focused on the traffickers that he didn’t bother digging into the weird details.
Besides, in Amberty, pretty much every young person knew Sierra. Back when he was still at the police academy last year, he used to binge-watch her videos all the time.
Honestly, Sierra was basically his crush type.
After hearing Sierra’s explanation, the cop puffed out his chest, trying to sound all righteous. “Since that’s the case, let’s bring them in.”
The traffickers instantly chimed in, “Can we go to the hospital first?”
The cop said, “It’s nothing serious, just suck it up for now.”
The traffickers just stared at him, speechless.

But since the driver’s hand was nearly torn off, the cop made an exception. Once the traffic police and ambulance arrived, he sent the guy off to get medical attention.
As for the other traffickers who’d been roughed up, the cop just dragged them straight to the station.
As for Sierra and her crew, since they were part of the whole mess, they had to get interviewed by the cops, too.
There was no way to keep the whole wolf situation a secret, so Sirra didn’t bother hiding anything when she got to the
station.
She’d already given Thomas a heads-up on the way over, and as soon as they reached the police station, some specialists were already there to meet them,
Sierra didn’t hold anything back. She gave a full, honest statement this time.
Sierra couldn’t stop thinking about the kids in the hospital, so after leaving the station, she headed over to see how they were doing.
At the entrance, the cop who’d been handling their case said, “We just got a call from the hospital. The kids were drugged, and some of the older ones got a bit roughed up.
“Looks like the traffickers hit them when they tried to fight back. But nothing too serious. Doc says they’ll come around once the meds wear off.”
Sierra asked, “Did you reach the kids’ parents yet?”
“Yeah, we’ve contacted all of them. These days, when a kid goes missing, the whole family goes into panic mode. The parents immediately put out alerts online to look for their kids.
“As soon as we verified their info, we gave them a call. They’re probably already on a plane heading here,” the cop replied.
Sierra nodded and then said thoughtfully, “Looks like there really are plenty of parents who truly care about their kids.”
The
cop
blurted out without thinking, “Who in this world doesn love their own child?”
He immediately regretted saying that.
He remembered Sierra’s past and realized he’d just hit a sore spot with that comment.
Just as he was about to apologize, Sierra gave him a gentle smile. You’re right. It’s good these kids are back with their families. They went through a lot of fear, but thankfully, it all turned out okay in the end.”
Sierra exchanged a few quick words and then headed out. She couldn’t wait to check on the kids at the hospital.
On the way there, Timothy suddenly popped his head up from the back seat and dropped the million-dollar question, “Hey Sierra, did we just forget something super important?”
Sierra just stared at him, completely confused.
“Weren’t we supposed to pick up Wesley at the airport?” Timothy added.
Sierra thought, ‘Oh no.’
The car slammed on the brakes, did a wild U-turn right there on the highway, and shot off toward the airport.
What should’ve been a quick one-hour trip ended up dragging out for a full three and a half hours before they finally managed to pick up Wesley.

Chapter 282
Wesley was so close to crying his eyes out in the back seat.

He started babbling away in his own language, rapid-fire, and nobody in the car really understood a word. But since it was totally their fault, they just had to sit there and take the heat.
After Wesley finally finished his babbling, he said with a dramatic sigh, “Sierra, you guys really did me dirty. But since you had a good reason and ended up saving so many families, I’ll let it go this time.”
As he spoke, Wesley shot a look at the two wolves crammed in next to him.
He couldn’t help but reach out, eyes wide with admiration. “Seriously, these wolves are next-level smart.
“I’ve watched wild wolves out in the field before, and I knew they were clever, but I never imagined they’d be this sharp. Chasing down a car for that long? That’s wild.”
He tried to pat the wolves, but they weren’t having it. Both of them dodged away from his hand.
The two wolves puffed up with pride and said, “Whom do you think you’re looking down on?
“We wolves are just as smart as humans. We know how to work as a team, but you humans are always fighting among yourselves. You only pull together when you’re really desperate.”
Wesley blinked, confused. “Are they dissing me?”
Sierra shook her head. “No, they’re not dissing you.”
Wesley looked skeptical. “But judging by the way they’re looking at me, I don’t think they’re exactly praising me.”
Sierra shrugged. “Yeah, they’re not praising you, either.”
She couldn’t exactly tell him the wolves were having a deep philosophical discussion about humans.
Wesley’s Hustralian was honestly pretty rough. He was about at the level of a third-grader. He could understand what people said, but when it came to reading or writing, he was basically illiterate.
He only knew a handful of simple words. So, when Sierra headed to the hospital, she had no choice but to bring him along.
Four kids were kidnapped. Two of them were from out of town, and their parents hadn’t arrived yet. The other two were locals, and as soon as they heard the news, they rushed over right away.
When the two young couples heard Sierra was there to check on their kids, they both thanked her nonstop.
Sierra quickly said, “It was just a lucky break, really. The real herges here are those two wolves.”
The couple who’d taken in the wolves looked stunned for a second, and then asked uncertainly, “So they really wolves?”
