Chapter 56
Sierra gave him a skeptical look, but Elliot’s gaze just grew even more indifferent.
In the end, Sierra politely turned down Elliot’s offer.

Even though she was close with Vivian, Sierra knew there had to be boundaries. She couldn’t just go to her for help every time something happened.
“Thanks, Mr. Paterson, but I already have somewhere to stay,” Sierra said.
From now on, her focus would be on WonderWild Zoo. She’d just pack up and move in there herself.
After saying that, Sierra felt a bit guilty. “I had no idea you lived right across the hall. I must’ve caused you a lot of trouble. How about I treat you to dinner sometime as an apology?”
“Sure,” Elliot replied, his expression unreadable as he pressed his lips together. Then, he pulled out his phone. “Let’s add each other on WhatsApp.”
Sierra thought she heard it wrong.
When he saw her hesitate, Elliot’s voice went cold. “Weren’t you the one who said you’d treat me to dinner?”
Sierra hurried to apologize, and they added their contacts on WhatsApp.
Once they were connected, Elliot said he had something to take care of and turned to leave, as if he couldn’t get out of there fast enough.
Sierra thought Elliot was acting weird, but she didn’t overthink it. She wiped the red paint off the doorknob and went inside.
Her address had already been leaked, so there was no way she could stay there anymore. She wasted no time hiring a moving company to get her stuff over to the WonderWild Zoo staff dorms.
Only after settling in did Sierra finally have the bandwidth to deal with the latest online buzz.
During all this, Vivian, her teachers, and even some classmates from way back were blowing up her phone with messages.
After replying to everyone, Sierra tapped open Twitter to see what was going on.
The hashtag, [SierraFakeRetirement], was still trending at the top of Twitter.
There were even people pretending to be her teachers and classmates, spreading all kinds of rumors about
her online.
Her Twitter had already been completely overrun by critics.
What was even more terrible was that her agency and Natalie were totally in cahoots, teaming up to drag her
down.

The agency acted all gracious, saying they wouldn’t press charges, but claimed they hadn’t been able to reach Sierra for days, hoping she’d come forward and clear things up herself.
Meanwhile, Natalie took to Twitter, saying she just couldn’t believe Sierra would do something like this, and asked everyone to give her a break.
On the surface, it looked like they were defending Sierra, but in reality, they were dumping all the blame on
her.
‘What a slick move,’ she thought. Sierra gave a cold, inward laugh and then quickly called Henry.
Henry picked up almost instantly. “Hey, how are you holding up?” Henry’s voice was steady, but Sierra could still catch a hint of worry in it.
Sierra felt a little better, a small smile tugging at her lips. “I’m fine, Mr. Carter.”
“That’s good to hear,” Henry let out a long sigh of relief, and then tried to comfort her. “Don’t let what people are saying online get to you. We’re already working on suppressing the trending topics.”
Even as he said that, Henry sounded genuinely sorry.
At first, when Sierra said she could handle it herself, they took her at her word. But as things kept blowing up, they realized she couldn’t handle it and started to suppress the trending topics.
But seeing how things were going, netizens just assumed Sierra really was guilty, and the hate towards her only got worse. Henry felt like he wanted to reach through the screen and slap these haters.
Hearing Henry’s apology, Sierra felt a warm feeling in her heart. No matter how many lives she’d lived, Henry was always the one who cared about her the most.
Sierra comforted him gently, “Mr. Carter, people in showbiz are all pros at manipulating public opinion.
“They know exactly how to mess with netizens’ minds, so please don’t blame yourself. You’ve done great. Honestly, I’m hoping this whole mess gets even bigger.”
‘Then I’ll be able to wipe them all out in one go, she thought.
Sierra continued, “When the time comes, just follow my lead…”
Sierra and Henry chatted for a good ten minutes. By the end, Henry said seriously, “Relax, I’ve got this. I’ll make sure everything goes off without a hitch.”
‘No one messes with my student and gets away with it, he thought.
Henry hung up and charged off to handle the task Sierra had entrusted to him.
Meanwhile, Sierra hopped on Twitter, ready to clap back at everyone.
Sierra: [I already told Maggie at the end of last month that I wanted out, and I even handed in the termination agreement to the company.

[Plus, I’ve been in Yondeland these past few days. How could I possibly go to the company in person to renew my contract?]
Then Sierra tagged Natalie in the post. [What are you, my shadow? You think you know everything about me now?]
To top it off, she dropped a meme with the words: “She’s driving me crazy.”
Netizens were shocked by her posts.
The company and Natalie didn’t expect her to do so.
Sierra suddenly responded online, going toe-to-toe with the company and Natalie all by herself. For a second, everyone thought her account must’ve been hacked.
[No way, this girl must’ve really quit. Otherwise, why would she be so fearless?]
[LOL, that meme is killing me. Just imagine Sierra going full boss mode, dropping herself onto the couch, her face totally deadpan, and scrolling through a bunch of memes until she picked that one and posted it like it’s nothing.]
[This kind of chaotic contrast is everything.]
[So, seriously, who’s telling the truth here?]
[Isn’t it obvious? The agency’s got tons of other celebs, plus Sierra’s signature is right there on the contract. She’s just milking this whole quitting thing for clout.]
[I agree. Why are netizens suddenly so lenient with Sierra? She even posted a meme to shade Nat. She’s really asking for it.]
[Did she really do that after Nat tried to defend her? What a bitch.]
Sierra couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow at the comments.
She didn’t mind the drama getting even hotter, so she singled out the last comment and fired back: [Well said. Here, you can have my bitch now.]
After that, she dropped another meme, which was with the words: “Get lost, dumbass.”
Everyone online just went silent and thought, ‘Sierra’s totally lost her mind.’
Meanwhile, Maggie and Natalie were still plotting how to get Sierra to make a public statement when suddenly their phones started blowing up with Twitter notifications. As soon as they checked, their faces went pale with rage.
Especially when Natalie saw the meme Sierra had aimed right at her, the softness on her face vanished, replaced by a stormy scowl.
Maggie was so furious that she was practically grinding her teeth to dust. “Sierra is such a pain in the ass.”

Natalie carefully masked the loathing in her eyes, blinking her eyes as she hurried to say, “Maggie, don’t be upset with Sierra. She really doesn’t get how much you’ve done for her.”
Maggie couldn’t help looking over at Natalie, who seemed sweet and considerate. That instantly put her in a much better mood.
She nodded, riding Natalie’s wave. “Exactly. I picked Sierra up when she was a total nobody. Every single thing I’ve done was for her own good, but she’s so stubborn. It’s like I don’t even exist to her.”
‘Sierra’s gorgeous, and her vibe is unmatched in the whole showbiz scene. If she’d just cooperate a little, she’d have the roles and resources lining up at her door, Maggie thought.
But she never did it as Maggie asked. One time, she told Sierra to have dinner with some bigwig, and Sierra just went and clocked the guy with a wine bottle.
Another time, she asked her to dance with a fashion mogul, but Sierra deliberately stomped on his feet until they looked like mangled sausages.
In Maggie’s eyes, Sierra had rebellion in her bones, always butting heads with her just because she used to be the company’s top star. She was stuck cleaning up after Sierra, and Sierra wouldn’t even give her the time of day.
Thinking about all this, Maggie couldn’t help but grumble, “Now Sierra’s calling us out. So, what do we do?”
Natalie flashed a sweet smile and said, “Sure, we went ahead and signed for Sierra behind her back, but she wouldn’t have the guts to fight the company. Once I hand her a few resources, she’ll quit throwing a fit.”
But as she spoke so, Natalie smirked to herself, ‘Resources?’
Lately, for reasons Natalie couldn’t figure out, every single deal Natalie had busted her ass to land was getting axed. The business partners would rather cough up the breach fee than stick around.
Whenever she pressed them for answers, they just got spooked out of their minds and clammed up. Her whole career was hitting a wall.
All Natalie wanted was to keep Sierra stuck in her shadow and make her crawl in the dirt under her spotlight for the rest of her miserable life.
Just as she was plotting, Natalie suddenly noticed Maggie looked seriously upset.
Then Maggie cast a timid glance at Natalie, hesitating as if she wanted to say something but couldn’t bring herself to speak.
“But I think Sierra might have a recording of me talking to her about ending the contract,” Maggie said quietly.
