Ever since Sierra moved into WonderWild Zoo, she pretty much stopped checking what was trending on

Twitter.

Once she officially joined the staff, her contract with the agency was automatically canceled. But she wasn’t letting them off the hook.

She was still going after the agency for breaking the contract and all their shady business. A big fat compensation check from the company was coming her way.

Sierra had been sleeping soundly and happily these past few days.

With all that money, she could finally give her animals an even better home and care.

Meanwhile, Milo the snow leopard was almost fully recovered from its stay at the rehabilitation center in Sunsville. The local wildlife rescue station had already sent Milo and the two limping wolves over to WonderWild Zoo.

After just a week apart, Sierra thought Milo looked even chubbier than before.

As soon as Milo spotted Sierra, it got super excited in its cage. The moment Sierra opened the door, Milo snuggled right up to her with its fluffy head, acting all sweet and cuddly.

Milo thought Sierra was so pretty and just wanna snuggle with her so badly.

“Come on, pet me.” Milo was whining for Sierra’s attention.

As soon as Milo got out of the cage, it dropped to the ground and crawled over like a puppy, tail wagging at Sierra.

Then it rolled onto its back, showing off its fluffy white belly, practically demanding belly rubs from Sierra.

Payton, the head of security, was off to the side, practically snarling with jealousy. It barked, clearly annoyed.

Payton gritted its teeth. Milo was just way too big for his signature tackle move to work. He tried pushing and nudging for a good while, but Milo didn’t budge an inch.

Payton could only grumble under its breath, “Why should Sierra pet you, you big furball? Petting rights are

mine. Move over,”

Then, copying Milo, Payton rolled onto its back and showed off its belly, tossing Sierra its best dramatic puppy eyes as it’d just been zapped by a love spell.

Sierra could only stare, speechless. If she couldn’t actually understand what the animals were saying, she’d never have guessed just how fierce their battle for her affection could get.

Resigned, Sierra gave both Milo and Payton a pat, then moved Milo and the limping wolves into the lion

enclosure.

Chapter 59

She’d been worried Milo might have trouble settling in at the zoo.

But after tagging along with the limping wolves for a quick patrol, it devoured eight chickens and three pounds of beef, and then flopped onto a big sun-warmed rock, looking totally blissed out and lazy. Exercise was not in Milo’s routine.

Sierra realized she’d been worrying for nothing.

After sorting out Milo, Thomas came over to Sierra and said, “Hey Sierra, remember we promised the fans we’d do an animal chat stream and daily zoo livestreams? What do you think?”

Sierra froze for a moment and then gave herself a little facepalm.

She’d been so busy fighting with the company these past few days that she’d nearly forgotten all about the livestreams.

She paused for a moment and then said, “I’ll go live in a bit. By the way, how much did we make from the last stream?”

Her streams were totally free. She only made money from live streaming tips.

After the last stream, Sierra had rushed off to rescue Milo, so she hadn’t even checked how much they’d made.

Sierra looked over at Thomas and saw how hyped he was. She could tell the earnings must’ve been great.

“After splitting with the platform and paying taxes, we made a solid four hundred thousand from the last

stream.

“That’s enough to cover the zoo and all those 3,000 stray cats and dogs you’ve taken in for a whole month.” Thomas was practically glowing with excitement.

The zoo’s monthly expenses were way more than the 230K Sierra shelled out last month.

Feeding the big animals alone could run up hundreds a day, and that’s not even counting staff paychecks or keeping animals healthy. Honestly, the zoo was burning through at least a couple of million every month, easy.

Thomas’s cheeks were flushed as he added, “Plus, I’ve already put in for a 50% subsidy from the bosses. We can finally catch our breath for once.”

Sierra was genuinely surprised. Most zoos were lucky if they got 20% to 30% of their costs covered.

She figured Thomas must’ve really pulled out the waterworks in front of the higher-ups.

“We can’t count on getting this much in tips every time, and the platform won’t keep boosting our streams forever. Our hype will die down eventually.

“Still, with this money, the zoo can keep running for a year or so, enough time for me to finish training the animals and get everything ready to open up for visitors,” Sierra said.

Thomas knew it all too well. But this was basically their only real source of income. Even if the tips dropped off later, at least it was something coming in.

“Honestly, as long as we’re not losing money, we’re already way ahead of most rescue centers and zoos. We’re in a pretty good spot,” Thomas said.

Though WonderWild Zoo had a rundown vibe, after the System’s epic upgrades, the place easily ranked among the top three zoos nationwide.

Netizens were flooding the forums, begging for a chance to visit as soon as the gates opened.

Thomas was so hyped that he’d probably wake up laughing in his sleep.

Sierra had promised to go live, so she didn’t waste any time. She went straight off to get ready.

She dropped a quick livestream announcement, and when the time came, she started streaming right from her bedroom.

As soon as the stream went live, tens of thousands of viewers flooded in.

Sierra set up some guest slots and said, “Sorry, I didn’t start on time. I’ve been busy dealing with drama from my old agency.

“But tonight, I’m streaming all the way until midnight. If you want me to chat with your pet, just request to join the stream, and I’ll pick someone at random.”

She opened up ten connection slots and then randomly picked one lucky viewer.

The lucky viewer was a young guy, probably just out of college and starting his first job.

As soon as he realized he’d been picked, he said quickly, “Hello, I joined the stream hoping you could find out what’s wrong with my dog.”

With that, the young guy turned the camera to his dog, a big, brown-and-white Alaskan Malamute.

The Alaskan Malamute was huge, with a pink nose, and right now, it was panting like crazy, its eyes even starting to roll back in its head. The Alaskan Malamute let out a pitiful howl.

Sierra could hear its voice, so faint that it was almost a whimper. “Someone, save me. I’m dying of thirst here. My throat.”

Before Sierra could respond, the young guy jumped in, “Sierra, this is exactly what happens every time I walk it. It just collapses at my feet, panting like crazy, and its eyes start rolling back.

“I’ve taken it to the vet more than ten times, and they always say it is perfectly healthy, nothing wrong at all. Could you please check if there’s anything making it uncomfortable? That way I can tell the vet what to look

for.”

The guy was visibly freaking out. He got this dog right before graduating, back when he was scraping by on just 500 a month, and the dog alone was burning through 300 of that. He barely had enough left for himself.

Ever since he brought the dog home, it had been panting like it just ran a marathon.

He had dragged it to the vet more times than he could count, but every single time, the dog magically acted fine as soon as they walked in. The vets had no clue what was going on.

As soon as the young guy finished talking, the Alaskan Malamute started rolling its eyes again.

The Alaskan Malamute woofed, “Of course, I’m fine. The vet always gives me water, but my clueless human never gets it.”

The young guy looked confused. “So, what did my dog just say?” For some reason, he could swear his dog was giving him the saddest, most miserable puppy eyes ever.

Sierra found the whole thing hilarious, but tried to sound serious as she said, “Quick, grab a bowl, fill it with some water, and put it on the floor.”

The young guy looked totally lost, but he just went with it and did exactly what she said.

Once the bowl was down, Sierra gave the Alaskan Malamute a gentle nod on camera and said, “Go on.”

Everyone in the chat, and the young guy himself, watched, not sure if the dog really understood.

But sure enough, the Alaskan Malamute got up, ducked its head, and started chugging water as it had just crossed a desert.

Sierra chuckled, “See? Just needed some water, and it’s all better. Problem solved.”

The young guy was still totally baffled. “Wait, just some water, and it’s fine? Did you just cast some kind of spell on my dog from afar or what?”
