Chapter 60
Chapter 60
Sierra was silent for a full ten seconds after hearing this.
The chat was blowing up with laughter.
[Why are there so many interesting people in Sierra’s stream? Are all pet owners this hilarious?]
[This guy’s a total newbie. He has no clue how to take care of a dog.]

[It’s already June. For an Alaskan Malamute, you really need to keep the AC running every day. If it’s not stressed out, try shaving some of its fur so it doesn’t get heatstroke.]
[Yeah, but don’t shave it all off. It could end up with skin problems.]
Sierra watched the comments fly by and then finally looked away.
She turned to the baffled young man and said, “Alaskan Malamutes are sled dogs, so their fur is super thick. The reason your dog was panting after the walk is that it was thirsty.
“You should give it some water right away, but don’t let it gulp it down too fast, as it did just now. Once it’s calmed down, you can give it water and food.”
The young man finally got it. Thinking about how he’d just accused Sierra of doing some weird magic on his dog, he suddenly felt so goofy.
His face flushed red as he quickly tipped Sierra 300 bucks, and then logged off.
Too embarrassed to stick around, he even deleted his account that very night.
After that, Sierra finally got a taste of what it was like dealing with oddball owners and their unlucky pups.
Next up, she connected with a middle-aged lady who immediately started ranting, “My dog eats its own poop every single time. Poops, then gobbles it up. Over and over again.”
The woman was totally losing it on stream. “I’m seriously about to lose my mind here.”
Sierra had thought it might be pica at first, but when she saw the dog, she couldn’t help but grimace. “This poor thing is just starving. Good thing you called in today. If you’d waited a couple more days, it might not have made it.”
Then came a couple on the line. They both appeared on camera, looking puzzled as they asked why their dog just couldn’t seem to lose weight.
When Sierra heard about the dog’s diet, she couldn’t help but exclaim, “Are you kidding me?”
3 ounces of dog food were just the appetizer. Every day, these two would spoil their precious pup with an apple, two bottles of yogurt, and a bunch of nuts, beef, and eggs.
Fat chance that dog’s ever slimming down.

By the time Sierra wrapped up her stream at midnight, she was floored to see that it had blown up to a million viewers without her even realizing it.
She honestly never thought a pet talk livestream could pull in such a huge crowd.
“From now on, I’ll be giving you guys updates on the animals around here. The next live Q&A will be next week. If anything changes, I’ll keep you posted. See you all then.”
With that, Sierra shut down the stream in a flash, leaving everyone hanging and craving for more.
Whether Sierra could really talk to animals or not, everyone could tell she was genuinely passionate about what she did.
Plus, Sierra was a pro at hyping up the chat, so viewers just couldn’t get enough and wished she’d go live every single day.
But when they checked her profile and saw she only streamed once a week at most, they were so disappointed.
Sierra had no clue what everyone was thinking. After the stream ended, she just went to wash up and crashed for the night.
But she’d barely gotten into bed when someone knocked on her door.
The man’s muffled voice came from outside the door. “Sierra, are you asleep?” It was Thomas.
Thomas never came by this late, so if he was knocking now, it had to be something urgent.
Sierra threw on her coat and walked over to open the door. “Mr. Monroe, is something wrong?”
Thomas said, “I just got a call from the Yondeland Wildlife Center. There are seven or eight adult elephants blocking traffic on the highway.
“At first, we thought the herd was just too scared to cross, but even after the staff stopped all the cars, the elephants were still wandering around the road, blocking vehicles.”
Sierra immediately understood what Thomas was getting at. “You want me to go over and handle the elephants stuck on the highway?”
Thomas nodded. “That’s right. But the staff at the center said the elephants aren’t a threat to people. So, get some rest tonight. I’ve already booked flight tickets for all of you.”
“All of us?” Sierra was quick to notice Thomas’s choice of words.
Thomas was straightforward. “You know how it is. Wildlife work is all about teamwork. The higher-ups put together a team for you, and don’t worry, these folks are solid.
“They have field experience and good personalities. They’ve already signed NDAS, so your job as WonderWild Zoo’s keeper and your animal-talking skills are safe with them.”
“Alright, I’ll go with whatever the higher-ups decide,” Sierra said.

Seeing Sierra didn’t object, Thomas breathed a sigh of relief. “Then good night.”
After Thomas left, Sierra wasted no time packing up her things.
The next morning, Sierra got up bright and early.
She arrived at the conference room, where the higher-ups had already gathered.
When Sierra walked in, the big shots couldn’t help but smile, looking at her like she was some kind of
treasure.
Sierra’s gaze landed on a few familiar faces sitting around the conference table. Thomas was right. She really did know these people.
It was the Wolf Research Team she’d met back in Coliburg, and Sophie.
“Captain Woods, long time no see,” Sierra greeted Ethan with a smile.
In front of her were Ethan, Mark, Timothy, and Alex. It’d been a month since that whole Wolf thing, and Sierra had only kept in touch with them through WhatsApp.
She never expected they’d end up as teammates this time around.
Ethan and the others nodded at Sierra, while Timothy was still his usual self. He couldn’t stop chattering for a second.
“Mr. Monroe, what about Ms. Sloan?” Sierra asked. At that moment, Sierra glanced over at Sophie, who was sitting in the corner.
Sophie wasn’t in her usual police uniform today. Instead, she wore a crisp short-sleeved shirt and long pants, hands resting on her knees, sitting up straight and proper.
As soon as Sierra spoke, Sophie’s eyes met hers.
“Ms. Sloan is also part of the team now. Her main job is to keep you safe,” Thomas said.
Thomas’s tone turned serious. “Sierra, even if you have a way with animals, working out in the wild comes with all kinds of risks. Your number one job is to keep yourself safe, understand?”
Sierra was caught off guard. She knew all too well that fieldwork could be deadly. One slip and it could cost her life in a heartbeat.
Ever since she turned in her power, she’d already put her life on the line, ready to risk it all, even if it meant dying.
But Thomas was telling her to put herself first, above everything else.
In this lifetime, whether it was Vivian or most of the people she’d met, they’d all given Sierra a kind of warmth she’d never felt in her previous life.
Something inside Sierra stirred. She looked at Thomas and gave a firm nod. “I will.”
