Chapter 105
Cora POV
This was getting very real, like more than the first man who was taken to the cells.
I was scared for the townsfolk who are the firing line.
“Oddball, did we find out who the shooter was in the street? The one that shot at the car that crashed into Dormouse?” I asked, suddenly remembering that one. Dormouse was awake now, he would not remember what happened, because it came at him from behind, too quick to get out of the way. He was in recovery now, out of the ICU, and doing better than we thought he would.
“We have located the guy, will be picking him up soon, he went into hiding, so we left him to think he got away with it, have someone watching him, and they will let us know when he’s on the move, best to get him when

ing stage was done, nothing for over a week, till we worry again. Next weekend, the Gunners are a bike ride. The men that Demetri was sending should be here in time to join that run, help with to–know–you time, and be comfortable with those they will be working with. This club’s members endly and good fun, I can’t picture a problem with them, I don’t know the other clubs, but I can’t see a em if Oddball is friendly with them, not sure if I am working that weekend, some other new nurse was ing us soon, and depending on how she performs, will fill gaps, and give both Bluey and me, the ekends off. Maybe.

Something was going on here, like, do I need to give Demetri a father–daughter chat about dating Scones?
Oh my.
Poor Scones.
The meal and the rest of the afternoon breezed by quickly, and I was back with Hacker, in his room, working on the new spreadsheet. Oddball agreed that it should not be uploaded to the server until he had reviewed it and, if necessary, contacted the club that might be affected by the changes. The hacker had sent me the new list of names, which included the past two years of employees and any associated connections, suppliers, customers, and a list of clients from the gun clubs on their customer lists. It was a lot of information for me to wade through, but I feel we don’t take the long road; something might slip through. Everyone who had been involved with that company was on the list, visiting event planners, Christmas party venues, everyone. It might sound too much, and it might be, but that’s me. If you’ve been in contact with the company, I want your name on the list.
I had just finished adding a lot of names, when Gunner came in, it was dinner time, where had the day gone? I transferred what I had completed to the thumb drive and would do more tonight. Need to work late, so I will sleep in, as I will be back at the hospital tomorrow night.
“Are we eating here or going home to eat?” I asked, not sure what Gunner had planned, think Demetri wants to stay, but was torn because he was here for other reasons, and getting to know Scones was a distraction right now that he might not have time for.
“Going home. Have you got what you need to finish your lists?” Gunner asked as we headed towards the bar area.
“Yes, need to do a bit more tonight, have work tomorrow at the hospital, need to work late, get super tired, and sleep till afternoon tomorrow, I hope, out of practice. Going to feel it the next day.” I said as we arrived at the bar. Demetri was there talking to Dizzy and Strike. Strike was going to follow us as we returned. Everything was packed, and in the back of the truck, Oddball was grabbing a few things from the office he
had asked for a room to use as he office, he had a lot of files here, that he would prefer not to be left,
т some club business, and a lot to do with his lawyer business, and needs to go to the office most mornings, something I hadn’t noticed before, he was very busy man. I just never paid attention to how he spent his time. I had been too busy with my own life, getting on my feet, healing, moving away and back and then finding my home, and yeah, not really looking at what others were doing.
Selfish much?
Yeah, I feel I have been selfish since the incident.
Broken and trying to put the pieces of my life back into perspective.
