Chapter 117
Chapter 117
Gunner POV
Twenty-one bikes rode into the compound, followed by a mean-looking van with blacked/out windows; it was more than a van, but it was bulletproof and full of instruments and gadgets inside. These men are all Demetri’s men, the ones he had promised, specialised to catch armed men,
more than we are. If I didn’t know better, I would think a bike club just rode in, they were perfect

does, it’s like us, because the law fell in a hole and let the guilty go, everyone could see they are

It had been a good time. Plenty of sex, even Oddball and Strike had been home, and Oddball met
the staff, who were looking for a place of their own, but with less pressure, being away from the
clubhouse and rowdy men.
Strike has bloomed since moving here, laughing more, and smiling all the time.
Demetri at last looked my way, and at last my turn arrived as he came to me; his men followed.
“Guy’s treat this one well, he is my Cora’s boyfriend.” That statement had changed the way the men
looked at me: smiles broke out, handshakes all round, claps on the back, and “welcome to the
family.”
“Where is the little lady?” Demetri asked, looking around the room again, searching for Cora.
“Cora was working this afternoon, swapped her shift with another nurse, so she could finish early,
and not be too exhausted for the bike ride tomorrow. She was looking forward to it so much so
that she had a bag packed.” Chuckles all around.
“Sounds like someone else I know.” One of the men chimed in, causing them to look at Demetri and
laugh some more at his wounded expression. I liked these men; they were nothing like I had expected. They looked the part but were nice. I guess when they have to put on the act, they would be like any other club member. Will have to wait and see.
“Will Cora come here first or go straight home?” Demetri asked when the laughter at him died
down; he takes being the butt of the joke well. He appears to have a unique bond with these men; it was good to see him like this, more of a real person than an untouchable.
“I will be picking her up around eight tonight, depending on how busy her shift was, as to whether she goes home first,” I replied with a shrug, “I can’t promise something I have no control over.
“Can I pick her up? Need to take my fatboy out anyway, and be a good surprise for Cora. Will take her to whichever place she wants to go first.” I looked at Demetri, then his men, who were beaming a respectful smile between Demetri and me.
“Sure, do you know the hospital at all?”
“Yes, have been there to check it out yesterday.” Hope bloomed in his eyes.
“Park under the light pole, near the emergency ambulance entrance; she comes out that way. have her lid on my bike.” I hope I don’t have Cora screaming at me for this. We had spoken earlier that we hadn’t seen hide nor hair of Demetri, and wondered if she had done something wrong, or wasn’t that interested after all in getting to know each other.
“Cora will be glad to see you; we have missed you over the past few days.”
“I have been busy here, getting acquainted with a little lady, who I hope will one day be my bride,”

Demetri said with a smirk, then looked over my shoulder, and his eyes brightened, and a smile
tweaked at his lips.
“Gunner.” Scones greeted me, then moved to Demetri, and he wrapped his arms around her,
drawing her in for a kiss.
“Wow, you two moved fast.” I grinned at the couple. Scones had changed, dressed better than when in the kitchen, hair tidy, no flour on her, and she smelt nice, clean, not of grease and garlic
Not that I ever minded the way Scones smelt; it was just who she had always been, since her man
died, like the kitchen was her hideaway and her way of feeling needed, but over the years that became a chore to her, a responsibility that loomed over her head and was expected of her,
instead of the reprieve it used to be.
“We are not young like you, got to grab what we can, while we can, and what can I say, isn’t this a fine specimen of a man,” Scones said, rubbing her hand over his chest.
“I will take your word on that. I am not that into men.” I joked back, getting the laughs I had hoped
for from the men; they were good men, settled into the room quickly, but then they wouldn’t be
great undercover men if they didn’t have that skill. It was actually good to see it in action.
“Demetri, I like the cut. Suits you.” Scones complimented him in a soft voice I had never heard
come from her mouth before, so she does have a sexy side to her, reserved just for Demetri. Both
had that soft look in their eyes, one that showed caring, and a touch of lust, can’t call it love, but
guess it’s headed that way, looks like Scones if she agrees, will end up my mother-in-law, if all goes
to plan.
“The boys came up with it, had to let them have some say on our group name, it’s not something
that can change, they are stuck with it now.” Demetri was smirking at his men. Not everyone liked
the name and patch, by the look of it.
“What time are you bringing Cora over, the time she found out about us?” Scones asked, pointing
between Demetri and her.
“I’m picking her up, love, on my bike,” Demetri replied, kissing her on the tip of her nose.
