Chapter 146
Chapter 146
Demetri POV
Ruby was stunning; she took my breath away when she came out of the bathroom, dressed and ready to go. Her smile radiated, brightening the room, and made my tongue all twisted, as words couldn’t express what I was feeling. My heart was racing just looking at her; I wanted to remove all those clothes and ravish that delectable body slowly. Funny, isn’t it? All that work to look good, and my thoughts were of stripping her and making love to her. Doesn’t make sense, how the mind works sometimes.
A quick, soft kiss, and we were out the door to see my daughter, all dressed up too, made my heart sing. She was beautiful- better than her mother ever was- or I might be biased, but yeah, we are two very lucky men, both women shining brightly, with warm smiles, as they proudly walk beside us.
Marco was a lively man, full of energy, and a typical Italian man, with his enthusiastic greeting, pride worn around his belly. Obviously, Gunner was more than a customer to him. The place was perfect: with it’s music soft, the food smelt fantastic, and obviously high quality in not just the food, but the service, the staff and the pleasant atmosphere, I can see why Gunner had said this place was used for romantic nights, for proposals, and special occasions, it fits the bill better than many in the high end big city had to offer.
We were taken to a private room; it was gorgeous. To think this town has such a place- the view of the river- was relaxing, the table didn’t have a lot of fillers, what I mean, was the table was set for eating. flowers were on a side table, by the window not clogging up the table, yes the decorations on the table can be nice, but when you want to dig in and eat, they can take up space, that you keep moving them or around them. Silly thoughts were filling my mind, distracting me.
I pulled out a chair for Ruby, and she sat gracefully in the chair. I noticed that Gunner did the same for Cora, and he was not copying me, but was actually being a gentleman. I had noticed he often is, opening doors, a big, rough-looking man, but ever so gentle and considerate when he was with Cora. I couldn’t have picked a better man for my daughter, not that I would have ever had the opportunity, and after what happened to me, I wouldn’t thrust her into that kind of position, and I don’t have the right to interfere in het life, more guide Cora if she asks for help, I refuse to be like my parents, and grandparents, and lose Copa or Ruby in my life.
No sooner were we seated than Marco came out, his energy entering the room before he did, servers following behind with plates of mouthwatering food.
“The chef’s special, today, I have prepared a sampling of a few signature dishes. I hope at least one will be to your liking.” Marco smiled at us and winked at Gunner before the staff scurried back out of the room.
“Gunner, you know the routine,” He clapped his hands and left the room.
“This looks and smells good,” Ruby said with delight. From what we have talked about so far Ruby rarely got to go out, since before her man died, he might take another woman out, but never Ruby Skeleton wasn’t always like that, Ruby had said, but he came back from a run and a chance man and she was the one he took his grief out on, like he didn’t think he deserved a good woman, and tried his best to show Ruby how bad he could be. I want to make up for all that hurt, on both my women, they both deserve

“I would like to inform both of you, here, in the quiet, that Ruby has agreed to be my woman with the vie

of more, if we are compatible, and not must in bed.” Cora squealed in delight, getting up and rushing over To hug Ruby, together, they did this dance in a circle, both talking at once, before they both sat back down, faces flushed from their enthusiastic congratulations. Meanwhile, Gunner came and gave me a bro hug. congratulating me, us, for taking that step.
The tasty food was eaten, a bottle of wine drunk, conversation light, laughter all round.
This was what family is like.
As it should be, free to speak your mind, with no judgement.
This had to have been the best night out, a glimpse of what can be, if we move forward as the four of us. Cora hadn’t answered my question about whether she would come with Ruby and me; mind you, I haven’t decided when to move back home, where I am needed to be. I had intended to fly back and forth as needed, but other than the shooting business, Cora was the only reason I am still reluctant to move permanently back home. I am torn because I want to take Ruby back and show her what she was letting herself in for by being with me. It’s a totally different life than this one, which was more carefree and had fewer people around you all the time.
Plus, when the world of wishful ladies finds out that one of the richest bachelors was taken, hate mail will start.
Can Ruby cope with being under the microscope?
She has been hidden for so long; will she shine or shrink away?
My biggest fear is she would run from me, from the scrutiny the public can put on you, and I would lose the best thing that has happened to me, since I lost Diapine.
The meal was coming to an end; none of us had room for dessert, and none of us wanted tonight to end. We were telling funny stories and learning a little more about each other; there was no pressure to leave.
Marco popped in and out, and even stopped to sit and have a drink with us before leaving back to the kitchen, keeping things running smoothly. Marco does it with such ease, a natural flair, and if he needed this room for the next customer, he didn’t show it or make us feel that our time was up and we needed to leave, as so many restaurants do, hovering around like they need the table. Not that it happens often to me, but I have seen it. No one would have thought to push me out of a restaurant in the big city: my face and name were too well known. But Marco would do well in the big city; his restaurant would be booked out for months. It wouldn’t surprise me if he were booked out here too; it was that good. Another part i liked was that he came and joined us a few times, making it even more special.
I can’t say enough about this, mind you; the company was exceptional.
I felt tonight was a breakthrough.
We bonded; I am positive we all broke new ground tonight, and I am grateful that Cora had suggested coming here, rather than crying about being terminated. Ruby was laughing most of the night, and by the time the night came to its natural end, my pants were tight from the bulge that started to grow when Ruby kicked off one of her shoes and ran her foot up and down my leg, giving me ideas and promises of when the night would bring, all the while talking with the other two, and trying hard not to shove what Ruby was doing to me, under the table.
We said our goodbyes to Marco and his wife, a lovely couple Marco handed a bottle of grappa to Gunner

and waved goodbye as he headed back to the kitchen. We laughed and joked all the way home, the night having been a success.
At home, we went to our rooms, where I at last had the chance to remove Ruby’s dress slowly, one button at a time. It wasn’t until the dress hit the floor that Ruby told me there was a hidden zip, and I didn’t need to unbutton the dress. In a way, I was glad I didn’t know; it was more fun, fumbling with the buttons, which caused Ruby to give that cute giggle of hers.
Ruby was standing in front of me, naked, and I was pleased she wasn’t hiding anything. Ruby started to remove my clothes. She placed my jacket on the back of a chair with care. As she did that, I kicked off my shoes, she then unbuttoned my shirt, then reached my pants, as she lowered them, squatting down as she lowered them, and took my undies along with the pants, causing my shaft to spring up.
Ruby licked her lips as she stared at my erection, which was a breath away from her mouth.
