Chapter 180
Chapter 180
Ruby POV
The ride was terrifying, not because we were riding dangerously, but because each minute we edged closer to the clubhouse was closer to being seen as his wife, for the first time in public, and I was worried I would be judged unfairly. When I married Skeleton, I had lots of trouble:/women threw insults at me, and Skeleton told me to suck it up and learn to get a backbone.
Will Coins be like that?
All nice till we got married, and thence became a sort of Jekyll and Hyde.
I keep telling myself that Coins was not like that, and I had nothing to worry about, but history makes you have fear, and with me being pregnant, when they find out, will they say he married me because I was carrying his kid?
All these fears were floating in my head. Cora had told me not to worry; she would have my back, but what happens when she’s not around, and they corner me and hurt me?
We arrived, but this was not like any clubhouse I had ever been to; it was full of quality and elegance. The hall was beautifully decorated, and the people, although keeping their distance, smiled and nodded; I guess until they know who we are, they will be careful. They would have seen me arrive with Coins; maybe they might be curious.
Did he never have a woman on the back of his bike before?
Stop it, Ruby; this is not like you.
You have let Skeleton back in your head, after all these years of getting rid of him.
Be yourself.
I sat at the table and waited, along with Cora, Xavier, Hacker and Scrubs.
Scrubs and Hacker were quietly talking to Xavier, and the small snippets I got didn’t sound too
good. Oddball was not in control of the situation. What will happen to the club if it fails? I know it’s
not a large club, but it was still enough to make me worry about them.
It was time; we all walked up to the stage. After Coins handed the new patches to the guys who
had just earned them, it was always good to see the faces of the newly raised members; they glowed with pride and happiness. All their hard work had paid off.
Now it was our turn, and I liked the names, Grease and Dollar. I understood why, as Coins had said several times, how Cora was worth more than he was; she was invaluable, and Dollar was more

than Coins. I get it.
Now it was my turn; Dollar and Grease stood on the stage, waiting for Coins to introduce me. I was shaking; I was trying to hold my hands still, but I failed, and Coins smiled at my hands before giving me a melting smile.
“Ruby, come forward.” I took a step closer to Coins, and he held out the cut Danny just handed ljim. I slipped my arms in, and he pulled it onto me, adjusting it. He hadn’t done that to the others; I felt he was trying to make a statement by giving me this extra attention.
“From this moment on, your name will be known in the club as RED.” He said out loud, and quieter, he said, “My ruby red.”
“Welcome, Red,” the members shouted out.
“Members, family, friends, I want to introduce these three new members formally. Dollar here, is my biological daughter. I had missed her for too long, and Dollar married Grease at the same time as Red and I wed. One small, intimate family wedding.”
The crowd cheered and screamed; a few girls booed, but that was expected.
Coins lifted his hands to quieten the hall.
“This party is a celebration, for raising members to patch, welcome new members, and the wedding celebration, and on top of that, today I learned I am going to be a father again, and a grandfather. Celebrate with me.” The room exploded with cheers; it was so loud that my chest vibrated.
The banner behind us dropped; it announced our marriage, the four of us. My name was in large print on the stage. I nearly burst into tears; the atmosphere was one of good cheer, not one bad word was heard.
We left the stage and were engulfed in hugs and pats on the back; a whirlwind of strangers, trying to touch us, hug us, and introduce themselves, not that I am going to remember their names.
Coins never let go of my hand, trying to keep me as close as he could. Too many wanted to be in the president’s face, talk to him, drag him away, for whatever reason, but he resisted, keeping by my side as he promised he would; eventually, we had managed to make the four feet it was from the stage to the table to sit down.
Food came out; the men left to bring back a plate for us. It looked good; my eyes gave the food a critical look and found nothing lacking. Maybe it was professionally provided; with this many people to feed, it would take a lot to cater for this many.
Dollar stayed by my side; this was very new to her, being the first time she was given a road name.

I bet she was as overwhelmed as I was, if not more so. I had some idea of the process and w expect, even if it was done a little differently.
Music got louder, dancing started, games were being played out in the gardens, the bar was opened, and everywhere I looked around, smiles were on everyone’s faces. I didn’t catch one nasty gaze at me, as i had been worried about. Children ran around, causing a ruckus, but it was good fun. Some ladies came and sat at our table to chat to us after Danny called Coins away, as he had a duty to do. I understood, and I felt safe here, with Dollar, Hackers and Scrubs.
The ladies only wanted to fill us in on some work the ladies did around here. If we wanted to join in
with them, they left us with a pamphlet that had dates, times, venue and what they were doing.
sounded nice, a big community that sounded almost too good to be true.
“Grease, do you think Coins will let us join here too? I bet there are a number of us that want to
leave the mess that Oddball had created,” Hacker asked softly when it was just us left at the table) and the noise of singing and dancing drowned out our conversation if anyone was listening.
“Yes, he wouldn’t hesitate to bring you all in; he will help in any way he can. I know he would have
some work for you, Hacker, and Scrubs; they have their own private hospital you might like to be
part of. They do things differently here; they would have to, because of how many members there
are. I, for one, would be glad to see both of you as members; the more familiar faces we have, the
happier Dollar and Red would be, especially now.”
“Yes, that was fantastic news: not just getting married, but a baby on the way. Both of you, this will
be a big change for you both: a new home, a new husband, a new club, and a new baby. You
certainly know how to cram a lot in a short space of time,” Scrubs said, making me blush a little.
“Yeah, Red, talk about a complete change in your life. You are blooming, like you have been hiding
all this time in that kitchen, and once Coins dragged you out of that hiding place, look at you, you
are not Scones anymore, but this bright, confident woman that we all love, and got a small glimpse
close to tears, with all the love they were giving me, and I had no idea they had thought that way,
that it was that obvious that I had been hiding in the kitchen.
But was I hiding?
I thought I had found somewhere to be wanted, needed.
