Chapter 71
Cora POV
Hearing Gunner’s voice made me jump. I looked at him, then at the balcony door, and realised how he got in. I thought it was locked, but I guess it’s not that safe. I’m not happy about that. Maybe talk about that easy access later. I’m too upset to think about that now.
I listened to Gunner’s explanation, and my stomach plummeted when I heard the truth. It made me feel like an idiot for doubting him. I really have let what happened in the past cloud my life. I need to get stronger and less judgmental, less sceptical, and less easily hurt.
Gunner helped finish the food while I thought about what I had seen, and then, from Gunner’s point of view, he was doing his job, and I was judging it as something else. It was easy for me to judge, with my past, and easy for Gunner to see nothing wrong with what was happening, because to him, it was innocent, and more than likely, not even noticed that Scraps was rubbing against him, like a person trying to stake a claim on a man she desired.
Would advising all the members there help us stop the judgments? I doubt it, but at least I can be acknowledged. Would that make me a member?
“Gunner, would claiming me as your girlfriend make me an honorary member?”
“Yes, more than honorary, but an actual member, Oddball would welcome you in as one.”
“Then it’s okay, because then I might have a voice.”
We moved downstairs to find Oddball so we could announce that Gunner and I were a couple. It was scary, and I was nervous, another first for me. No one had even proclaimed me as their girlfriend, like the Gunners were about to. My ex didn’t even let me meet his other friends for months, like I was a secret, yet I introduced him to all mine. Little things that I never thought were odd slowly float into my mind as
Gunner shows me how a real girlfriend should be treated.
Oddball was talking to some men by the bar, and beer in hand, and it looked friendly, not business.
“Oddball, a moment please.” Oddball looked between Gunner and me; he would have known about what happened earlier, and could clearly see my still red eyes.
“Officer?” Oddball offered.
“Not needed.” We stepped away from the ears, further behind the bar, where no one but bar staff went.
“Can we announce to all the sceptics out there that Cora is officially my girlfriend?” Gunner asked as he pulled me closer to him.
Oddball slapped Gunner on the shoulder,

Finally, I was wondering when you would ask that. Welcome to the family officially, Cora. Let’s get this done.” Oddball almost dragged us out of the back of the bar and to the table at the front.

Chapter 71
Oddba!! hit a gong that was on the bar, the members stopped talking and turned to face Oddball. When everyone was facing the front, and the room went quiet, Oddball shouted out.
“Today I have the proud opportunity to announce that Gunner and Cora are officially together, girlfriend and boyfriend, and it’s time to celebrate. We have a new club member, Cora.” Cheers rang out; some faces didn’t look so happy about the announcement, but overall, most cheered.
“Kiss. Kiss. Kiss.” Gunner didn’t need much encouragement to pull me into his arms and give me a long, slow kiss, curling my toes.
Again, we were in the spotlight, but for a completely different reason. Dizzy and Strike were the first to reach us and included us in a group hug. Some chick came up and said it wouldn’t fast, and not to get too comfortable around him, he would stray eventually. I smiled and thanked her for her advice, clearly seeing it for what it was: jealousy.
Gunner stayed close to me the whole afternoon, not letting anyone try to take me more tharr a few steps out of his reach. Eventually, it became more like a party, and Gunner took a seat, pulling me onto his lap. We continued to have members come and welcome me to the family, and thank me for the work I had
done so far on finding the shooters. It was evening when Scrubs and Bluey arrived, and they heard the
news. Both came to congratulate Gunner and welcome me to the club.
“Are you okay, Bluey?” I asked. She looked drained, like it had been a hard day.
“Nothing we can’t handle,” Gunner squeezed me as if to say ‘leave it‘, and as much as I wanted to push it, he knows better than me when to push something with Bluey. I was still on eggshells with her, even though she apologised, I was still wary.
The food for the evening meal came out later than usual, but everyone dug in. I felt poor Scones never gets out of the kitchen, just when you have eaten, it’s time to start the next meal. I am glad I am not a cook full–time. Gunner left me on the chair and grabbed something for us. He returned with only light finger food, which I was grateful for. I wasn’t that hungry.
The music got louder, and many started to get drunk.
“I am going to bed.” I was tired from our ride this morning, and all that has happened since we returned.
“Go, I will be up shortly.” I left Gunner and returned to our room, took a nice hot shower, and climbed into bed. I hadn’t been in bed for long when Gunner joined me. He didn’t take a shower, but did a quick wash. “Tired?” Gunner asked, softly running his hands over my back as he pulled me to him.
“Sort of, been a long day, early rise to ride back, and then all that emotional stuff, so yeah, I am tired.”
“Too tired to have some love making, as my girl?” Gunner wiggled his eyebrows at me, and I giggled at
him.
“But I thought I had been your girlfriend since that date night?”
“You were, are, but tonight everyone knows, no more guessing if we are or not.”
