Chapter 356
Soon, it was time for Joshua’s follow–up appointment at the hospital.
Xylia accompanied him for the check–up.
The doctor looked over Joshua’s test results and nodded in satisfaction.

“You’re recovering well. In a little while, you can start physical therapy. It won’t take long–it’s mainly to help you get back on your feet. Make sure to get up and walk around when you feel ready,” the doctor said.
Xylia thanked the doctor.
When it was time to pick up the medicine, she led Joshua to somewhere less crowded.
“Wait here. I’ll go get the medicine,” she said.
Joshua nodded.
He watched as Xylia walked over to the pharmacy and joined the line.
Out of nowhere, the image of a woman’s slender back crossed Joshua’s mind.
It looked just like Xylia at that moment.
Joshua frowned, and all of a sudden, the image of an unfamiliar man popped into his head.
Connor was at the hospital to pick up Sonny’s prescription, and to his surprise, he caught sight of Xylia.
Back when word got out in Jupiton about Joshua’s death, Connor had tried to find Xylia.
But he never found her.
Now, with everyone talking about Joshua coming back from the dead, Connor ended up running into Xylia right here.
He didn’t see any sign of Joshua anywhere near Xylia.
Connor approached and greeted her, “Xylia.”
Xylia barely spared him a glance before looking away, her expression icy and distant.
She acted like he wasn’t even there.
Connor frowned, his expression darkening.
“Xylia, Joshua may have come back from the dead, but he’s lost his memory. He doesn’t even remember loving you. Why are you still hanging on to him?” Connor said, his tone laced with mockery.
Xylia couldn’t help but think Connor was a joke.
Ever since their divorce, he just kept popping up in her life, pestering her like he couldn’t take a hint.
He’d finally left her alone for a while.
But now, just by chance, he had to show up and start running his mouth again,

She was about to snap back when something clicked. She frowned and shot Connor a sharp look.
“How do you know Joshua lost his memory?” she demanded.

The media only knew Joshua was back from the dead. The whole memory loss thing was locked down tight–nobody but his inner circle had a clue.
‘Where did Connor get that info?‘ Xylia thought, suspicion prickling at her.
Connor’s eyes flashed with guilt, but he covered it up in a heartbeat.
“I just heard it somewhere,” he brushed it off, quickly steering the conversation elsewhere.
“Sonny’s sick, and he keeps asking for you. Why don’t you go see him? Just do me this favor,” Connor said, putting on his best pleading act.
“No,” Xylia shot back without a second thought.
She didn’t even hesitate.
She’d already drawn a clear line between herself and the Ford family father and son ages ago.
‘Just because Sonny gets sick and starts calling for me, I’m supposed to drop everything and run over? Does he think I’m at his beck and call?‘ Xylia thought, her patience wearing thin.
She wasn’t just sitting around with nothing to do.
Connor was about to say something else when a deep voice called out from behind.
“Xylia,” the voice said.
Xylia turned and saw Joshua making his way over in his wheelchair, frowning a little.
“Why are you here?” she asked.
She rushed over to help him with the wheelchair.
For once, Joshua reached out and took her hand, shooting Connor a look as he turned his head.
Compared to how uneasy Joshua felt when Xavi got a bit too close to Xylia before, this time the feeling was even stronger.
Just one look from this guy at Xylia was enough to make Joshua’s blood boil–he had to fight the urge to tear him apart right then and there.
“Who is he?” Joshua asked, his voice low and guarded.
Xylia followed Joshua’s gaze and glanced at Connor.
“Just a stranger. Ignore him,” Xylia said coolly.
Connor locked eyes with Joshua, completely unfazed by Xylia’s dismissal.
He extended his hand to Joshua, greeting him with a courteous smile.
“Mr. Garcia, nice to meet you. I’m Xylia’s ex–husband, Connor,” he said, his voice smooth and just a bit too friendly.

“Connor, are you sick in the head?” Xylia snapped, her anger flaring.
Xylia was furious.
Connor just grinned, acting like he couldn’t care less.

“What, you never told Joshua you were married before? Figures. Now that he can’t remember you, you get to pretend none of it ever happened and reel him in again. But don’t forget, you already had a family. You even had a kid,” Connor said, his voice thick with mockery.
Xylia’s face went a little pale at his words.
She knew Connor’s sudden malice was just his way of getting back at her for all the harsh words she’d thrown at him.
She couldn’t even bring herself to look Joshua in the eye.
Connor was right.
She really had been keeping this from Joshua.
It wasn’t that she thought her past was something shameful–she just didn’t see the point in making Joshua worry about it.
She was planning to find the right moment to tell him later.
She hadn’t expected Connor to just blurt it out like this.
She wanted nothing more than to rip Connor to shreds right then and there.
After dropping that bomb, Connor deliberately turned to Xylia, making sure Joshua was watching every second.
“Xylia, your son’s burning up with a fever, calling out for you even in his sleep. Are you really that heartless you won’t go see him?” Connor taunted, his voice thick with mockery.
But before Xylia could even get a word in, Connor just kept going, answering his own question like he owned the place.
“Of course, someone as cold–hearted as you wouldn’t bother. Who knows, maybe when you get tired of Mr. Garcia, you’ll be just as ruthless to him,” Connor sneered, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
He was making Xylia out to be a cold–hearted bitch.
Xylia shot Connor a death glare. “Trying to pit us against each other just to force me to see Sommy? Keep dreaming!”
Connor flashed Xylia a mocking smile, then turned his attention to Joshua.
“Take a good look, Mr. Garcia. This is the woman you’re really dealing with,” Connor sneered, his words sharp as knives.
Joshua shot Connor a cold, deadpan look, not a single emotion flickering across his face.
Then, before Connor could even react, Joshua suddenly pulled out an apple and hurled it straight at Connor’s head, catching him totally off guard.
The impact was even heavier than when he’d chucked one at Xavi before.
Connor’s vision went white, stars exploding in his eyes.
He clutched his nose, feeling hot liquid dripping down.
