The other stepped aside, silently keeping watch over the two of them.

Xylia soon came back with the medicine, casually resting her hands on Joshua’s wheelchair handles and started wheeling him out like it was the most natural thing in the world.

“I’ll tell you when we get back,” she said, her voice tinged with unease.

Xylia’s voice was tinged with unease.

After all, she had been keeping things from Joshua, and honestly, she felt a bit guilty about it.

Joshua picked up on her nervousness, but he didn’t say a word.

Once they got back to the villa, Xylia sat down across from Joshua, looked him in the eye, and after mustering up all her courage, started to lay bare her past.

She was anxious, wondering if Joshua would be just like all those other guys out there, judging her for being divorced.

Nervously, she bit her lip and kept her head down, not daring to look at Joshua’s face.

She was scared she’d see that look of disgust she couldn’t bear.

The room fell into a heavy silence.

After a long, tense pause, Joshua finally stirred.

He gently reached out and took Xylia’s fingers, white from tension, where they rested on her knees.

Slowly, he enveloped her cold hand in his own, warming her with his touch.

“Are you scared?” he asked softly.

Feeling her tremble, he pressed, “What are you afraid of?”

Xylia looked up, her eyes rimmed with red.

Seeing her like that, Joshua’s heart clenched.

“I’m scared you’ll want a divorce,” Xylia whispered, her voice breaking with emotion.

Her words came out in a choked whisper.

Joshua’s brows furrowed, and he instinctively tightened his grip on her hand.

“You think I’d divorce you just because you have an ex–husband and a son?” Joshua scoffed softly, his voice firm and almost incredulous.

Xylia finally gathered her courage and looked up to meet his eyes.

In those deep, dark eyes, there wasn’t even a hint of disdain–just pure, aching concern for her.

“You… you’re not going to divorce me?” Xylia asked, her voice trembling with disbelief.

Joshua thought, ‘Xylia isn’t nearly as bold as she was back when she insisted we get married.’

He said, “You’re the one holding the marriage certificate. Even if I asked for a divorce, would you say yes?”

“No way,” Xylia shot back without hesitation.

Joshua gave her a look that said, ‘See? That’s what I thought.‘

“I’m not some shallow guy who thinks a woman with a marriage and a kid is ‘damaged goods.’ When I fall for someone, it’s for who she is not what she’s been through,” Joshua said, his voice calm and genuine.

He released Xylia’s hand and slouched back in his wheelchair, looking completely at ease.

Xylia’s vision blurred with tears.

Even with his memory wiped clean, Joshua was still just as she remembered him.

She couldn’t hold back anymore. She threw her arms around his neck, pressing her face into his shoulder.

Her tears slid down her cheeks, soaking into his collar.

She could feel Joshua tense up in her arms.

“Joshua, you’re so good to me,” Xylia whispered, her voice thick with emotion.

‘Whether it’s as a person or as my boyfriend, you’re really wonderful, she thought, her heart swelling with affection.

When Xylia suddenly threw her arms around him, Joshua felt like fireworks exploded inside his chest.

His hands hovered awkwardly in the air, unsure what to do–he just couldn’t bring himself to wrap his arms around her

When Xylia finally let go of him, she saw Joshua’s face was bright red.

His cheeks were burning, completely flushed.

Seeing him so bashful, Xylia couldn’t help but think, ‘Where did that old thick–skinned Joshua go? How did he turn into such a shy guy?”

After Connor’s little episode, Xylia suddenly realized she’d almost forgotten that Connor knew about Joshua’s amnesia.

It hit her just then–she’d nearly spaced on the fact that Connor was in on Joshua’s memory loss.

She filled Kaden and Aaron in on everything.

They all suspected Connor was in touch with Noelle.

Or maybe he was working with Richard, who was supposed to be dead.

Kaden said, “Richard could still be in play, but only if he’s actually alive. Daltonia already confirmed his death. Holt’s body was found intact, but with Richard, things are different…”

Back then, Joshua’s body wasn’t found intact, which is why they got it wrong.

Richard’s situation was pretty much the same as Joshua’s.

If Joshua survived, then Richard is probably alive too.

But Richard’s whole operation in Daltonia was basically wiped out. If he’s still alive, how did he manage to dodge all those people chasing after him?

Kaden thought to himself, ‘I really need to look into Daltonia more closely.’

Xylia, though, had a different take on things.

She remembered how, back when she thought Joshua was dead, she went to the crash site herself.

All that was left was a burned torso.

Graham told her the cops had already confirmed it was Richard.

So, as far as anyone knew, Richard was gone for good.

But with Connor’s personality, unless he was getting paid off or had something big to gain, there’s no way he’d do Noelle any favors.

There’s definitely something fishy going on here.

“Dad, Kaden, we should have someone keep an eye on Connor. I’m telling you, he’s up to something.” Xylia said, her voice full of suspicion.

Aaron and Kaden were totally on board with that.

After they talked for a bit, Xylia finished her call with Kaden and turned to Aaron.

“Dad, I’m gonna head to bed now,” she said.

Aaron nodded.

Xylia left the study.

Out of habit, she warmed up some milk and took it to Joshua’s room.

Joshua didn’t want it, and told Xylia she should have it instead.

“Sorry, I can’t drink it for you. I’m allergic to milk,” Xylia said.

She could tell Joshua wasn’t really into it, but she just smiled and held the glass out to him anyway.

‘Milk is good for your bones,‘ she thought.

‘He really should be drinking more of it, especially with his bone injury.

Joshua blinked in surprise at her words, then took the glass and downed the milk in one go.

As Xylia took the empty glass from Joshua, he suddenly asked, “Are you allergic to anything else?”
