Chapter 358
Chapter 358
Xylia stood rooted to the spot, completely caught off guard by Joshua’s words.
An awkward silence fell over the bedroom.
Joshua instantly regretted what he’d just said.
His face flushed bright red, the heat spreading all the way to his neck.
‘Did I just come on way too strong?‘ he wondered.
“That’s not what I meant. Just… can you go now?” Joshua mumbled, his voice barely audible.

Joshua flopped onto the bed, turning his back to Xylia and yanking the covers over his head, desperate to hide his embarrassment.
Xylia couldn’t help but chuckle softly, finally catching on to the situation.
Joshua’s ears burned even hotter at the sound of her laughter–he just wanted to disappear.
Xylia gave the bundle under the covers a gentle pat, her tone light and teasing.
“Hey, it’s normal for a married couple to share a bed. I just didn’t want you to feel awkward about it,” she said.
Getting him to marry her was one thing, but making him do something that messed with his feelings or comfort? That was never her intention.
But since Joshua had brought it up, there was no way she was going to turn him down.
The lights in the room went out.
Joshua felt the mattress dip beside him as Xylia lay down.
He caught whiffs of her sweet fragrance from beside him, and before he knew it, his heart was racing. ‘Damn, why is my heart beating so fast?‘ he thought.
They both slept properly, keeping their distance and not crossing any lines.
Xylia must’ve been exhausted, because she was out like a light in no time.
Joshua, on the other hand, was wide awake–sleep was the last thing on his mind.
Xylia wasn’t exactly close–she was clearly being considerate, making sure not to freak him out. Even though they were sharing a bed, she respected his boundaries.
Still, even with that space between them, her warm breath and that intoxicating, signature scent of hers seemed to drift right over, making it feel like she was lying just inches away.
Joshua felt like he could hardly catch his breath.
Joshua rolled over slowly, fixing his gaze on Xylia’s face in the dim light.
The curtains were left open, and moonlight spilled in through the window, casting a soft glow over Xylia’s face.

Her pretty face was softened by the moonlight, making her look even more enchanting. ‘How can someone look this beautiful even when they’re asleep?‘ Joshua thought.
With her eyes closed, she was the picture of a sleeping beauty–so peaceful and lovely, Joshua couldn’t help but feel his heart tug. I just want to keep her safe,‘ he thought.
Almost without thinking, Joshua’s hand moved on its own, brushing softly against her cheek.
The feeling was strangely familiar, like it was second nature to him.
Some emotion from deep inside just bubbled up, making him feel–yeah, this woman was meant to be his wife.
‘What exactly were my memories before all this?‘ Joshua wondered to himself.
Joshua’s mind kept spinning, chasing after answers, all the way until dawn. Only then did he finally close his eyes and drift off to sleep.
Not long after he finally drifted off, Xylia woke up.
When she opened her eyes, she found Joshua lying close, his arm resting around her waist.
That familiar, intimate position filled her with a sweet sense of happiness.
While Joshua was still asleep, Xylia leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to the tip of his nose. Then, she quietly slipped out of bed.
After all that rehab, Joshua was finally back on his feet, slowly but surely learning to walk again.
On his last day of rehab, the little girl he’d saved came by to thank him once more.
“Thank you, big brother,” the little girl said, her voice sweet and full of gratitude.
Cute as a button, she handed Joshua a little jar.
“I folded these stars myself–these are for you, big brother!” the little girl said, her face beaming,
Joshua smiled, “Thank you.”
Joshua looked down at the little jar in his hand, packed with shiny, folded paper stars.
In the sunlight, they shimmered in a rainbow of colors.
They looked absolutely mesmerizing.
The little girl’s mom gave Joshua a deep, grateful bow.
“Thank you so much. You’re our hero,” she said, her voice trembling with emotion.
Her eyes grew misty, clearly haunted by the memory of that terrifying ordeal.
Joshua’s usually serious face softened for once.
“Seriously, it’s no big deal. Just think of it as the racking up some karma points,” he said.
As he spoke, Joshua glanced over at Xylia.

Xylia noticed Joshua’s pleading look and gave the girl’s mom a warm smile.

“You really don’t have to be so thankful,” Xylia said softly. “You’ve brought Qiuqiu by to thank Joshua so many times–we truly appreciate it. Just take care of Qiuqiu and live a happy life together.”
The girl’s mom chatted with Joshua and Xylia for a while longer before leaving with Qiuqiu.
Joshua held Xylia’s hand as they walked out of the hospital together.
After all this time spent side by side, their relationship had become much more intimate–they were getting used to each other in the sweetest ways.
Xylia’s eyes kept drifting to Joshua’s leg, her concern showing every time she glanced over.
Even though he was up and about now, she was always worried he hadn’t fully healed, and that he might be left with some lasting issues.
Joshua noticed Xylia glancing at his leg and grinned, a teasing glint in his eyes.
“Really, I’m all good. Don’t worry about me,” he reassured her.
He even wiggled his leg a bit, just to prove to Xylia that everything was perfectly fine.
Xylia smiled and gave his leg a gentle pat.
“Seriously, take care of yourself. If you slack off now, you’ll end up with aches and pains when you’re old,” she teased.
Her words were so warm and familiar, just like something an old married couple would say, and it really warmed Joshua’s
heart.
He smiled and replied, “Alright.”
They slowed their pace, strolling out together.
It was still early, and they hadn’t been out together in ages, so they decided to hang out for a while before heading home.
Xylia glanced at Joshua and asked, “Is there somewhere you’d like to go?”
Joshua thought for a second, then looked at her and said, “Where did we usually go on our dates?”
Xylia thought for a moment, then took Joshua over to a street food stand not far away.
Joshua frowned as he eyed the lively crowd around the vendor, clearly not thrilled by the chaos.
The place was packed with people,
This kind of scene just wasn’t his thing.
Xylia pointed at a grilled fish joint and said, “Back then, you brought me here. The grilled fish here is seriously good.”
Joshua grabbed a seat with Xylia at the grilled fish spot.
The tables and chairs were set up right on the curb, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of everyday life–you could really
soak in the street vibes.
The grilled fish came out fast.
