Xylia decided to change the subject. “Alright, what’s done is done. Let’s look ahead to the future.”

As she spoke, she grabbed a piece of fish and dropped it onto Joshua’s plate.

“Come on, eat up. Once you’re done, I’ll take you hiking,” she said.

‘Hiking?‘ Joshua thought, a little thrown off.

Xylia had definitely managed to distract him.

“You’re taking me hiking?” Joshua asked, his face full of confusion.

Sure, he could walk just fine now, but with his legs only recently recovered, hiking up a mountain sounded like a whole different challenge.

Xylia grinned at him, clearly catching on to his worries, but she couldn’t help messing with him a little. She nodded on purpose, just to tease him.

Joshua looked at her, opened his mouth to say something, then thought better of it.

In the end, he just nodded and let her have her way, staying silent.

When Xylia drove them all the way up the mountain, Joshua realized her idea of hiking was totally different from what he’d expected.

He gave her a pitiful look, which only made Xylia burst out laughing.

The sunset cast a radiant glow over Xylia’s lively little face.

She looked so soft, so alive.

Joshua froze, a memory flashed in his mind.

Chloe trailed behind him, totally baffled about what she’d done wrong.

She just thought Sonny was really naive.
