Joshua glanced at Noelle, but didn’t bat an eye.

After a long pause, Joshua finally said, “You did save my life.”

His voice was surprisingly gentle.

Noelle thought he was finally taking her words to heart.

She broke into a smile.

Just as she was about to keep pushing her point, Joshua suddenly spoke up again.

‘But that doesn’t mean everything you said is real,” he said.

Noelle panicked. ‘How can you not believe me? Joshua, I swear I’m not lying to you. We used to be together–you were crazy about me back then. You just don’t remember it now!‘

Noelle quickly grabbed Joshua’s hand, gazing at him with all the love in her eyes.

Joshua furrowed his brows, glancing down at his hand still trapped in Noelle’s grip.

He looked at the woman before him, the one claiming to be someone he once loved.

But all he sensed from her was an overwhelming possessiveness, not a trace of genuine affection.

And for as long as he could remember, every time she touched him, his instincts screamed to pull away.

That wasn’t how people in love were supposed to feel.

Joshua jerked his hand free from Noelle, his voice icy.
