Chapter 366
Xylia made her way to Noelle’s villa on the outskirts, all alone.
The place was dead silent, inside and out.
Staring at the practically abandoned villa, Xylia couldn’t help but wonder if anyone actually lived here.

There was no security guard at the entrance, and the paint on the front door was peeling badly. The only thing that looked new was the lock, as if someone had just moved in and had temporarily replaced it.
She pressed the doorbell.
Not a sound came from inside.
She knocked on the iron gate, but it was locked up tight and wouldn’t budge.
Xylia grew anxious. ‘How am I supposed to get in?‘ she thought.
Before she could think of what to do, a man in a red suit came out from behind the door.
“Who are you looking for?” he asked.
He had deep blue eyes, and his accent was off–definitely not from around here.
Xylia instantly knew he wasn’t a local.
‘Wait, isn’t Noelle supposed to be living here?‘ Xylia thought, feeling a bit puzzled.
She asked the man, “Is Noelle here?”
The man tilted his head in confusion.
“Noelle? Never heard of her,” he replied.
‘Did I get the wrong place?‘ Xylia wondered.
She double–checked the address David had sent her, and it was definitely the right one.
She pulled up the photo on her phone and asked the man behind the iron gate, “Did you send me this picture?”
“Did you send me this picture?” she asked.
David definitely sent the right address, and she was sure she was at the right place.
If there was someone else here she didn’t know, then the only other person it could be was the stranger who’d sent her that photo.
Whoever this was, they must have met Joshua.
Jared hadn’t expected Xylia to be this clever.
He could tell from the determined look in her eyes that she was sure Joshua was in there.
If he kept lying now, it would totally throw his plan off.

“You must be Xylia Sadler, Ms. Sadler, right? I can tell you Joshua and Noelle are inside, but I can’t guarantee what you’ll walk in on. Are you sure you’re ready for that?” he said.
His voice was low and teasing, almost provocative.
It sounded like something outrageous was happening inside–something Xylia would rather not witness.
Even though her heart skipped a beat, Xylia’s expression remained calm and unfazed.
I’m readyke ine to them,” she said, her voice icy and unwavering.
Her cold re
Caught Jared off guard.
Why is she so cold?‘ Jared wondered, a flicker of confusion crossing his face.
How can Xylia be this aloof?‘ he thought, unable to believe it.
Jared just couldn’t wrap his head around it–how could Xylia and Joshua be so unbreakable after such a short time, not even worried for a second about the other cheating?
But since it had come to this, he couldn’t just slam the door in her face.
After all, his whole plan was to break those two up.
He unlocked the iron gate and led Xylia toward the villa.
Xylia followed Jared toward the villa.
With every step she took, her heart grew more uneasy.
She was anything but calm beneath her cool exterior.
If this were the Joshua she used to know, she wouldn’t be anxious at all.
But now, with Joshua having lost his memory and being tricked, Xylia couldn’t be sure he wouldn’t get caught up in something crazy like that. ‘He’s not the same Joshua I used to know… Who knows what he might do if someone messes with his head?’ she thought uneasily.
Still, she figured the odds of that actually happening were pretty low.
The villa door swung open.
A faint smell of blood filled the air.
Xylia frowned slightly.
Joshua had only just recovered… Could someone have hurt him?‘ she thought, the idea making her uneasy
With that thought, Xylia shoved Jared aside and burst into the villa, not waiting for him.
In the living room, a few bodyguards stood around, looking down at the floor, their faces bruised and battered.
The mess on the floor made it obvious there’d just been a fight.

But there was no sign of Joshua anywhere in the room.
She spun around and shot Jared a glare. “Where is he?”
Jared just pointed upstairs, looking totally unbothered.
“Bedroom?” Xylia pressed, her voice tense.
The bedroom? Xylia thought, her heart giving a nervous jolt.
Noelle was nowhere to be seen either.
Xylia spun around and dashed upstairs.
She flung open door after door, but every room was empty.
Finally, she stopped in front of the last door.

Without a second thought, she shoved the door open–a glint of cold steel flashed before her eyes. Before she could even process what was happening, the blade was already swinging right at her.
It missed her throat by barely a centimeter.
“Xylia?” Joshua’s voice, rough and low, cut through the tension.
Joshua froze, pulling the dagger back just in time.
Joshua rushed over, cupping Xylia’s chin in his hands, frantic as he checked her neck for any sign of injury.
“Are you hurt?” he asked, his voice tight with worry.
Xylia was still shaken, her heart racing. ‘That was way too close,‘ she thought, trying to steady herself.
She looked up at Joshua–his face was completely drained of color, all worry. She quickly shook her head, trying to let him know she was okay. ‘I’m fine, really,’ she reassured herself, hoping he’d believe it.
“What about you? Are you okay? Were you the one who fought those bodyguards downstairs? Can your body even handle all this?” Xylia asked, her voice thick with worry.
‘He just recovered–how could he be jumping into a fight already?‘ Xylia fretted, anxiety twisting in her gut.
Before she could even check Joshua for injuries, he pulled her into his arms, holding her tight.
Xylia could feel Joshua trembling all over.
I’m sorry, I’m so sorry…” Joshua kept repeating, his voice trembling with guilt.
If he hadn’t pulled back at the last second, he could’ve actually cut her.
He’d never hurt anyone on purpose, but if that dagger had left even a scratch on her neck, if he’d made her bleed, he’d feel guilty for the rest of his life.
Xylia gently patted Joshua’s back, trying to comfort him.
“It’s really fine, I’m okay, Xylia said, giving Joshua a reassuring pat.

She soothed Joshua for a moment, then let go and looked into the room.
Is Noelle in here?” Xylia asked, her voice tense with worry.

oshua’s brows furrowed, clearly afraid Xylia might misunderstand. His explanation came out hurried and anxious.
It’s not what you think, I promise! Let me explain–I only came here because…” Joshua blurted out, his voice shaky and lesperate, afraid Xylia might get the wrong idea.
We can sort it out later. I’ve already called the cops–they’ll be here soon. Right now, we just need to stay safe,” Xylia said,
er tone cool but protective.
The guy downstairs was probably a foreigner, and the law in Alverland might not even be able to touch him.
Sut Noelle still had to face the consequences for what she did.
Kylia grabbed Joshua’s hand and pulled him back into the bedroom.
Noelle was lying on the carpet by the bed, out cold.
ylia turned to Joshua, her eyes full of questions. “Did you do this?”
oshua nodded.
She tried to assault me, so I kicked her. Next thing I knew, she was out cold,” Joshua said, sounding a bit flustered.
Damn, that must’ve been a seriously hard kick,‘ Xylia thought, half speechless.
ylia’s lips twitched–Joshua was definitely not the gentle type when it came to women.
she noticed a coil of rope nearby, then reached for Joshua’s wrist to check if he’d been tied up.
she noticed bloodied rope marks on his wrists, and when she looked closer, she saw that two buttons on his shirt had been indone, exposing a glimpse of his toned, fair skin.
Xylia’s gaze grew heavy.
Did they tie you up? And was it Noelle who unbuttoned your shirt?” Xylia asked, her voice low and tense.
joshua only then realized his shirt buttons were undone.
He quickly buttoned up, looking guilty and a bit sheepish.
‘I… I must’ve undone them during the fight,” Joshua stammered, his voice weak and unconvincing.
Xylia didn’t buy it for a second. ‘Who unbuttons their shirt in the middle of a fight?‘ she thought, her skepticism clear.
She locked the bedroom door behind them and turned to Joshua.
“Go ahead and lie to me now, but when we get to the police station, you better come clean. You hear me?” Xylia said, her voice cold and cominanding.
Whenever Xylia gave orders in that icy, bossy tone, it always made Joshua tense up inside.
He nodded quickly.

ylia figured Jared would come up with his men to grab them any minute, but after waiting for what felt like forever, there vas still no sign of them.
Before long, the wail of police sirens echoed from outside.
ylia walked over to the window and looked out.
ll those fancy cars that had been parked down there were gone–only the two cars she and Joshua had driven were left, itting quietly by the curb.
‘olice cars pulled up out front, and the cops burst in.
